Platoon player IMO. Has speed and decent bat on ball percentage, but no power. Another Espinal like player.

Disappointing season overall, but at least we are not the Chicago White Sox! 121 losses. That's crazy. Forget about Ohtani's 50-50 record, I don't think that losing record will ever be broken again.

And they are getting kicked back 10 spots in the draft. Extra salt in the wound.

It's obvious that the Jays tanked the last 3 games to get in a better position for the lottery.

https://torontosun.com/sports/baseball/toronto-blue-jays/simmons-time-to-say-goodbye-to-blue-jays-management-duo-of-shapiro-atkins

Very well article by Steve Simmons. In a perfect world, Dumb and Dumber Shapiro and Atkins would be fired this morning after 9 years of Zero Playoff Wins in Toronto. Schneider should be canned also, so all The Three Stooges would not be here for the 2025 Season. A fan could only hope, even though Rogers does not have that wisdom to make that move.

Another nicely stated lines in the article by Simmons which I have to commend, "In fairness to Shapiro, the stadium is nice. He played a large part in that. The Tuesday $1 hotdogs are fun. So if you need to renovate your home or have friends over for a barbecue, better call Shapiro. If you need outfielders who can hit, better call Saul or somebody else. The Jays have $30 million invested in George Springer and Daulton Varsho and next year that number goes up — with a combined on-base percentage of less than .300".

Most likely 5th or higher. The top six spots are a lottery, and two teams ahead of the Jays in the draft order are automatically excluded. Chicago will draft 10th, Oakland 11th. The MLB draft has some twists other major sports drafts do not. A team that contributes to revenue sharing cannot be in the lottery two years in a row (Chicago) and a team not contributing to revenue sharing cannot be in the lottery three years in a row (Oakland). So probably a top 5 pick. Cleveland won the lottery for the 2024 draft from something like ninth position, so the Jays might end up lower than fifth, but mathematically, you'd bet on fifth or higher.

It's about bloody time. Just absurd that he kept his job so long.

Now, who do they get to replace him? In theory, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone much better.

“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

"Sick of the talk," Kevin Gausman asks What are we going to do now? | Toronto Sun

With all of that has come frustration, a feeling prevalent among veterans in the Blue Jays clubhouse who following Sunday’s finale here against the Miami Marlins will mercifully see the calamitous downturn end. Gausman wants much more though – from himself, his teammates and a front office under fire.

“I’m sick of the ‘talent’ talk,” Gausman said in an interview with the Toronto Sun this weekend, a cardboard packing box filling up beside his clubhouse locker. “We’re so talented, this and that. We’ve got to start winning games. We’ve got to figure it out. We’ve got to do it quickly. I’m only getting older. (Fellow starter Chris) Bassitt is only getting older. If we want it to happen with this group, it has to happen soon. So what are we going to do?”

Even in Gausman’s phrasing, that question has layers. How much of it is on the players? How much of it is on the front office? How soon can it be fixed or can it? And yes, what are they going to do?

Thoughtful and seasoned as he is, the 33-year-old has some ideas. Gausman is a driven veteran determined to be a winner before age catches up with his best years. There were many reasons he settled on Toronto, a city and fan base he’s embraced and a franchise he truly believed was promptly destined for bigger things.

Sure the money was massive, assuredly the big-ticket contract of his career. But before he signed with the Jays, Gausman was meticulous in the research leading to his decision to go long term, big cash with a team that he believed was on the cusp of sustained greatness.

So now what?

Like many of those who follow the team, Gausman will wait to see what general manager Ross Atkins and his baseball operations brigade can do in this critical off season.

“Time will tell,” Gausman said. “Obviously we’ll see what the front office does. Listen, we need some veteran players, no doubt about that."

This should have happened before we wasted two years of Vladdy and Bo. This FO continues to be completely inept.

Fire the entire "analytics" department. I suspect they're responsible for a large part of this mess.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I hope they bring up the Bisons HC.He is good at being a HC.Guillermo inherited Bichettes end part of the tutoring of the players, and eventually after Bichette left, they fell off a cliff battingwise/powerwise,and then announced "Serious org,and its about pitching now,no more jackets pls"
The Bisons hc made it feel like when Bichette was here with all the callups hitting hrs regularly.
Nice to know finally that Vlad nor Bo need an HC.Vlad figured it out himself.

If Gausman wants a chance to play meaningful baseball, he better ask for a trade, because it won't be happening with this core. This team is way too old to compete anymore. We're at the start of another rebuild.
