Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I gave this group 3 years to turn this around because like you guys said, it's completely doable to go from bottom rung team to a playoff team in one season.
We tanked and got the QB in 2023-2024. It looks like they've figured out the most important position in all of football. They have a ton of cap space this offseason, potentially another high draft pick coming up next offseason. Smart front office, patient ownership, I don't think the Commanders get there this year but 6-7 wins is not out of the question. I do expect us to be a playoff team next season though barring catastrophic injuries.

not just a better team or a playoff team. with the way that the other teams in the division looks, we're poised to dominate for the foreseeable future barring catastrophic injuries. giants can't even tank right. eagles are melting down. i would say that dallas missed their window, but they never really had a window.

Someone made the point that Daniels rushes or the hits he takes usually aren't that bad because players aren't going for as big hits because they do not want to end up in highlight reels where Daniels jukes and defenders are often on the edge of their feet. He is also extending plays where a normal quarterback like Howell would get pressured. At least the game tape from the Bengals was encouraging.

Guess I'm gonna have to start watching. Haven't paid attention since the RG3 era...

I still don't really have any expectations--sample size is very low and the Bengals were 0-2 for a reason.
Obviously hoping we can build on what we were doing offensively on Monday.

Bengals are a playoff quality team who almost beat the chiefs. They're pretty good for an 0-3 team. They're probably distracted by chase's contract situation

Kingsbury's commitment to the run has been a pleasant surprise.

O-line was dominant today. There were gaping holes for the running backs to run thru and they kept Daniels' jersey clean. Any game where JD doesn't take a big hit is a great one.
The one interception shouldn't have been one. JD had two receiver wide open underneath and made a bad read. A small blemish on an almost perfect day.
Defense played really well.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
Chris Long pointed out that there is a streak of teams that have played the Lions and haven't covered since back to last year. IE Tampa Bay played the Lions and lost to the Broncos the following week- Long thought maybe it is because playing the Lions takes a lot out of opponents. Still a nice win. BTW, I believe so far this season, teams are 3-0 after playing Washington.
The Cardinals not getting points to close out the half was big plus Washington turning that drive into a field goal was potentially a 6-10 point swing. Daniels finally showed that he was human with the interception (I believe he had someone open underneath). Still a great start to his season. Fox said that he had the highest completion percentage among any player in NFL history through the first 4 games of the season.
Overall its a good start. Now I wonder how the team deals with expectations. One could arguably say that Washington is the best team in the NFC East- although obviously still a long way to go to prove that until they actually play the Eagles/Cowboys. And they can't look past the Browns. But they are certainly far ahead of where I thought they would be.
The big thing is that Daniels isn't taking much punishment. He's not putting himself in danger of getting first downs like RG3. There were 2 plays where Daniels avoided the hit out of bounds while ending up a a yard or two short and kept himself safe. He also converted another slide.
The running attack looks great. Washington possibly has 3 good running backs in Robinson, Ekeler, and McNichols. The defense improved, seemed like they played better once they knew Arizona was passing and finally generated a turnover.

Prior to the draft I was watching a vid from Chris Sims on JD. He said Daniels is a throwing " machine" because his mechanics are so good and consistent. Good call

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
The o-line is insane at the moment in both pass pro and run blocking. And the willingness to let JD throw deep + read option is horrifying for defenses.
Wouldn't be shocked if we look back in 5 years on this being one of our better rosters of the JD era. Sometimes it just works out like that. But a bunch of guys are gonna want to get paid.

It’s a second chance after drafting Haskins year before Burrow. I’m a LSU alum and it’s not just homerism. As long he stays healthy he is going to take the league by storm. I could see us being this year’s Texans.
That Jayden guy is sort of good..

My guess is the Ravens/Commanders game for Week 6 gets flexed into the Sunday night game.

We would find out soon. The decision would have to be made 12 days before the Sunday night game according to NFL.com.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
Saw on Twitter that the 3rd round pick we got from Dotson belongs to Miami so at this point, it is a very high 3rd round draft pick. My guess is if they end up drafting in the middle of the first round, edge rusher will probably be on the list and corner/receiver help will come through free agency.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
Bills traded Diggs, a '24 6th rounder, and a '25 5th rounder for a '25 2nd rounder. So that's probably the bench mark for an Adams trade. Looking at our draft picks, I'd probably trade our 3rd rounder and a 6th rounder for him and call it a day.
