Maybe. They're 7-5 and Luka is going to win unanimous MVP.

Problem is Dallas has no bad contracts that go out to Randles last year. In other words, we could get Bertans and Timmy back and match salary easy. But we'd have to give an asset up to get off Foolius 25-26 which is $30 million.

Probably it would mean trading them their own pick back -- because then they could in turn use that to get another player to help in the playoffs.

Rather just keep their pick and hope they finish lower in the standings

I couldn't agree more. I hate the argument that he is 19 and 9 and we have to replace that. You can replace raw number production in many ways. Offensive system/pace, player development (more usage for other players), and bringing in better fitting players. All these scenarios make more sense then just letting Randle get his because we obviously know that isn't conducive to winning basketball games. Which should be the goal...not putting up raw statistics.

19\9, he'll be age 26 next playing year, and a 19 million expiring, or is it effectively 14 million, as he has 5 million player option?

Agreed it's a false narrative about needing to replace 19/9. Someone will score those points. The Knicks will kind of suck no matter what, with or w/o Randle

Anyway, he's not GREAT, but he's not awful.
Moving him will be about fit for both teams, in terms of what the team who takes him needs, in terms of some front court help and/or salary relief, and what they have to offer Knicks, maybe in terms of a wing who can shoot and/or a pick etc etc.

There could be a deal for Randle, or maybe not.
I wouldn't burn a single asset to try and get rid of him, as he's an expiring, in spite of the fact he crowds the paint and roster etc.
On the other hand, he won't fetch a massive return, but there MIGHT be scenarios where he brings something back, depending on circumstance

If they don’t trade him, they’ll re-sign him.

He should be traded. Should have long been traded.

This team isn’t going anywhere and of course. Brunson can’t change that. Him and Randle are not some kind of killer combo that’ll relentlessly beat down on opponents. Are all, they are not even mediocre, even though I would’ve expected them to be at least that.

In reality, there is no market for Randle.

The only team that could realistically be desperate enough to try to use him is the Lakers and once you think about it… they cannot use his non-shooting, inefficient game either. They’ve got enough of that BS between Ad, LeBum and Russ. Maybe they’d like Fournier - but Walker is obviously better.

We won’t get value for him, but that’s good enough for me. I want this team in the lottery.

Brooklyn might send some bodies for him.

The Clippers might send Batum and maybe Mann as someone pointed out. But that’s it.

Milwaukee has Allen, but no fillers.

I doubt they’d want Randle over Portis, but that could be a package.

Boston would gladly send us Derrick White but that’s a very bad deal for us.

Phoenix could use him but can’t/won’t offer anything.

Dallas could send Dinwiddie whose contract expires in 24.

Denver could use him I guess but we don’t want Gordon at all.

I think Philly wouldn’t say no to a deal of Randle and Fournier for Tobias Harris, whose 40mil contract expires in 24. I don’t know if they’d send Thybulle too or what kind of draft capital they have.

Miami need talent, but we can’t take Herro or Duncan, do all they’ve got to offer is Lowry, whose contract expires in 24.

Sending him to Washington for Barton and Monte Morris would be a masterpiece. They may be dumb enough to consider it.

Chicago has Vucevic‘s 22 million expiring. Would they offer him or rather extend him? They’re going nowhere either. Not that Randle would change that, but maybe they’re nervous…

Cleveland would never send us Love‘s or LeVert‘s expiring. That’s how low we’ve gone.

I mean, let that sink in.

I like your takes on moving Randle, I don't agree with half of them, but they are entertaining nonetheless.

Malik Rose.

Actually he's a very smart dude, he'd make a better GM than Rose and the CAA mafia. But we gave him a dumpster fire contract.

Didn't we trade for him to get a pick from San Antonio? Funniest shat was when Larry Brown started this dude and got him 18 shots to get revenge against the San Antonio Spurs for trading him lol..

Yeah I got it all wrong. He was with San Antonio before we got him. Went on to become an assistant GM, not a coach. I liked his game.

you're wrong. some knick fans on this forum like julius randle. i wouldn't frame difference of opinion this way. player sentiment like this occurs on a spectrum.

if you want to focus on potential trade partners, i'd leave it at that. the phrasing in this OP is really asking for unnecessary smoke.

U in the minority nyc knowledgeable fan's been wanting him gone before the extension, we not dumb and thirsty like the Randle stan's are!!he is not wanted he an accident waiting to happen all he is with empty stats

Jose7 wrote:This is the key to the offseason. I know we have a trade discussion thread but I wanted to feel the pulse of the board on this team. I dont think any of us can tolerate watching this clown play for another year. The silver lining is that he is essentially a one year deal (yes I know about the guaranteed money year 3).

What team can Leon ship this man to and what asset would we be willing to attach for the greater good of the future of the franchise? This is year 4 for Frank, year 3 for Mitch, year 2 for RJ. You cant have a guy like this on the team and expect anything good to come out of it besides him bumbling and stumbling to 18 and 9. He's a developmental killer thanks to Pills.

How can Leon reverse the damage?
