Re: Breaking: KAT to the Knicks
In the end, this is a good trade even though I'm against getting injury prone players. Randle wasn't signing another friendly deal folks.
We either sign Randle for 4 years, 44+ million AAV between ages 31-35
or take KAT's contract for 4 years 55 million AAV between between 29-32

Anunoby | Hart | Dadiet
Towns | Morris | Bates-Diop
Robinson | Achiuwa | Sims
I read somewhere that the Knicks can’t keep both Morris and Shamet. One of them is gone.
Wasn't that before they did a 2 for 1 trade?

Pure basketball, at least offensively, I get it. Easy fit.
But defense, heart, grit, toughness, all the subtleties and intangibles that matter, this is a backwards move. He was just getting benched for Naz Reid in last year’s playoffs. Paying supermax dollars for someone who gets benched in crunch time in the playoffs is nasty work.
And yall are happy about this?!?! And we lose Donte?!?!
I’m disgusted.
Sucks losing Donte but a couple days ago I thought the Knicks might have to settle on a Drummond-like washup as a C. To be so strong from PG/the wings on both ends of the floor & have no bigman depth was a shaky situation. Glad they got creative to bring in talent while moving off of Randle. Not easy to replace Donte but needed to put quality in to get some quality back, and finally I can feel somewhat comfortable about the bigman depth.

I wonder what the Venn diagram is for the "I hate the Brunson trade" and "I hate the KAT trade"
Probably looks like a circle

All Randle's flaws (ball stopper, chemistry killer, bad D) are KAT's flaws as well. The things that KAT is better at does not warrant an average of 55 millions a year for 4 more years.
And on top of all this, Donte is traded away. That one is going to sting.
I'm shocked you don't like the trade. Shocked, I tell you.
Anyway, Knicks were on the treadmill, so why do you care?
I pay money to watch the games, unlike during the good times, when I pirated all of them. They sucked then, that's why I care now.
But this shouldn't bother you, as you are vehemently on record that the Knicks were on a treadmill after the Bridges trade.
Now they are on a modified version of that same treadmill.
Seems odd to be bothered in that case.

Re: Breaking: KAT to the Knicks
Getting Isaiah Stewart seems like even more of a good idea now. Gotta be a way to do it without including Deuce. Commit to the full 5-out without losing defense/rim protection. Plus gain another hometown player to help bring the first title home in decades

Re: Breaking: KAT to the Knicks
People are looking at the depth chart when you should be looking at top 9 players that will be playing. I will be surprised but I am hopeful that Thibs can stretch it out to 10 man rotaiton especially when OG and KAT are brittle. There's really no more position except for Ballhandlers, Wings and Big man.
Based on Thibs comments that Randle can play 10-15 minutes at the 5, I'll use that as the base for KAT and Sims as the starting center. That doesn't mean Sims close the game or plays more than 20 mins. His minutes are situational.
240 minutes total
Brunson (35)
Mikal (34)
KAT (32)
OG (32)
Hart (30)
Deuce (20)
Sims (18)
Payne (14)
Precious or Mook (22)
Mook will be KAT's replacement if he gets injured or load management. Mook is the only big man that can stretch the floor and keeps the offense in a consistent flow without KAT.
There are still some interesting players to replace KBD/DDV... Justin Holiday, McDermott, Reggie Bullock
I wish we could sign DSJr. his defense and athleticsim would be nice on this team.

yeah, seems like they didn't want to pay him what he wanted and it was only a matter of time
Not wanting to pay Randle makes sense. And if they didnt want to pay him, then they needed to trade him. For all his good and his flaws, KAT might have been the best value and fit they could have gotten. They may even be able to flip him if the fit doesnt work out.
If the Knicks can find a way to get the best out of KAT it really could work out well. Have to see how it fits together

Of course! I woke up around 11:30 after going to bed early and just happened to see a notication on my phone. I'll be tired all day today LOL.
The bad news - you missed all the excitement in real time.
The good news - nothing you did affected the trade ir the Knicks future and you're in plenty of time to watch all the games this season.

I had these nearly these exact totals in my head while taking a walk this AM.
I'd swap out Sims 18 for Mook and give Precious the 22, until Mitch comes back and then it's either Precious or Mook to the DNP-CD status, probably Mook.
