Great soldier. Did things that only a few Knicks have ever accomplished.
Unfortunately, we're in a contention window and moves like this have to be made.

Re: Julius Randle appreciation thread
NOBODY expected a 3 time All-Star when Randle came here. He far exceeded expectations. He did what KD and Kyrie were too chicken to do. Randle wasn't perfect (nobody is or will be) but he deserves respect and gratitude from everyone.
And he was a role model as a father and family man. Wish him and his family nothing but the best.

Re: Julius Randle appreciation thread
He was unironically our best player and now that he's off the knicks people will realize what a talent he is. 7 months from now there's gonna be a lot of knicks fans crying about "he wasn't doing that with us!!". Yes, yes he was. He has always adjusted his game to make the team the best it can be. He'll do it again in Minny and keep their wheels turning.

so many people are going to eat their words about randle

Yes, I’m definitely sensitive to Randle slander, he was completely unappreciated by the fanbase despite consistent and massive yearly improvement and taking this franchise out of irrelevancy with him and the lack of loyalty for players who have to take on the NY challenge is a pattern I’ve seen among the fanbase for years and one that coincides with our inability to build a consistent winner.
They didn’t even give this team a chance with Julius and Donte and I thought the advantage we had with chemistry (which I put a higher premium on than most) iis nullified now with these moves this offseason.
I do find it comical, though, that you come in here taking everything personal like the self appointed defender of the fanbase. GTFOH Don’t come in here talking tough, hurling insults, like you got some personal axe to grind with me just cause I’ve ethered your f*ggot ass more times than I can remember.
I’ll take Randle over Anthony-Towns for this Knicks squad, he’s tougher, more durable, more versatile scorer, stronger in the low post and more built for this city. Everything you hated about Randle will be like 1000 times worse with Towns. I’ll stand on business with that.
So you and Towns can both go f*ck yourselves, honestly, since you riding for him so hard, we’ll revisit and six months and see how much better he is and the team is with him over Randle.
Hey man, you were the one with the broad strokes telling a whole fanbase they suck. You earned the pushback. Don't start fires if you can't stand the heat
Newsflash, d!ckhead, I am the fanbase, and as long as I’ve followed this team, I’ll be g*ddamned if I let you lecture me about how I express my fandom. Let’s be clear, there’s no smoke you can bring that I can’t stand, MF.
Go ahead, melt down and embarrass yourself some more if you need to get it out of your system
At the end of the day, your blitzkrieg against KAT was worse than anything you accused other people of saying about Randle and that makes you a hypocrite. You won't hold yourself accountable to the thing you accuse others of doing

I'm relieved I don't have to see those posts using "3x All Star, 2x All-NBA!!!!!!" to prop up Randle as being some sort of superstar.

It just will be replaced by reposts of random tweets every time KAT struggles or Randle has a good game. I hope you are prepared for the next phase of the battle. Good luck.

Re: Julius Randle appreciation thread
I had my thoughts about Randle but I feel like I don't need to repeat them.
A few things I appreciated about Randle:
1. He had a bad first season and he bounced back in a big way. He's leaving NYC with multiple all-stars.
2. That 2020-2021 season was amazing. One of the best two-way seasons I've seen from a star on the Knicks, and that's extremely rare. Strong leadership.
3. He gave a lot to charity in NYC.
4. He had a few hiccups, but on the whole, he seemed to be a good teammate and the team liked him.
5. The booing thing is super overblown - we've heard worse as Knicks fans.
6. I did think he had potential to get his name to the rafters with the Knicks.
7. He did come back from an injury very soon to play against Cleveland in the playoffs.
I think the thing that sucks is that the injury stopped us from seeing how he really fit on the Knicks and how he performed in the postseason. Maybe that would have changed everything.
Beyond that, no more ill will. Hope he does well. It'll feel weird to not see him in a Knicks jersey.

Even if you didn’t like him we traded him for a superstar. Not in a salary dump. So smd

Can't wait to direct folks here: https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=22
...Or say nice things like: "Go be a Wolves fan"....."take that Randle talk to the 'Around the NBA' thread".
...And use endearing terms such as "closet Wolves fans" and "Knicks haters".

Re: Julius Randle appreciation thread
I wasn't the biggest Randle fan but i'm very curious how he will look under a different coach. Thibs is a good coach but he isn't exactly the most creative offensive mind. His biggest strength is pushing guys and getting them to compete at the highest level for as long as possible especially on the defensive end. For whatever reason that didn't always work with Randle and there were no consequences when he didn't do it.
I wonder how he will be used in Minnesota as his fit in the starting lineup isn't ideal. There is a limited amount of shooting in their starting 5 with Randle. Maybe they stagger his minutes with Edwards as much as possible or even use Randle off the bench. I don't know.

I think his fit is great there. Gobert is a great player next to him and plenty of scoring and distribution opportunities. He was good fit with Brunson as well so should be good with Edwards. Already chemistry with Donte

I worry about the spacing and shooting in their starting 5 if Randle starts. Conley, Edwards, McDaniels, Randle, Gobert. Conley is the only above average 3 point shooter. Edwards is an improving shooter but he is also an athletic attacking guard that will now be surrounded by a non shooting Gobert, a low volume low percentage McDaniels and a higher volume lower percentage Randle. Defensively they are great pieces to surround Randle with though.
I feel like Reid may be a better fit with the starters at the 4 than Randle with Randle being able to play more on ball in the second unit with someone like DDV spacing the floor for him.

Re: Julius Randle appreciation thread
I liked his competitiveness and that he seemed desperate to win. BUT...they made a good role player the focus of the offense and his inability to pass, make plays for others, or capitalize on double teams resulted in disastrous playoff performances. For awhile he was best tryhard on a tryhard team.
