Not really buying all the Donte stories. Maybe a little bit of truth but sounds like they are exaggerating things a ton.

Basically, Knicks had to include him as value and to match salaries. Maybe stories are leaking to soften the blow.

There may be some truth in those rumors though. I'm sure Donte thought, after the second half of the season and that playoff run, that he'd be the starting 2 and have 30 mins locked in. Then the FO went and got his replacement. If I was him, I wouldn't be too happy about that neither. And unlike Jalen, the FO probably didn't call Donte to ask what he thought of the trade before they did it lol.

Maybe some very small truth. He was still going to get at least 25-28mpg. OG is going to miss a lot of games too

Don't think this factored much into the trade though. They needed the salary and value to work. The fact it's all coming out now is obviously to soften the blow. This happens all the time

Maybe he liked Julius. But that would be a little odd to not have your coach on board with the move of this magnitude I probably can get more information as time goes on about the relationship.

I do know second hand that it was an interesting relationship. Julius can be madening as a player but thibs absolutely loved his work ethic, thoughness, and him being in great shape.

Ya know KAT is one of the best passing bigs in the league?

In what sense? Randle is a premier shot creator and commands a double in the post and anywhere inside the arc really. He got teammates wide open 3s all game long and the shot charts prove how much he enabled our shooters. He was going to have an insane number of 3 point threats around him this year.

KAT is a good passer? Averaging 3 assists on a stacked team? It looks to me like KAT is the ball stopper everyone thinks Randle is. I don’t trust KATs ability to create for himself and others. I feel like we are going to heavily rely on Brunson to do nearly everything when one of the best things about Julius was that he was able to do everything too and that’s takes pressure off Brunson. We lost that.

We now only have one single reliable creator

feel free to break it down. we got a 3 point threat center but lost a 3pt threat wing, mitch, and our primary secondary ball handler all-nba forward

people have become way too enamored at all these ridiculous scenarios when the fact is we beat the celtics LAST season if we were healthy. that's without mikal. if we swapped mitch with gobert we would sweep the playoffs. all we needed was a reliable center that plays defense and crashes glass. we already had the pieces and identity to get a chip

Did you see the way Thibs was talking about Randle this week? That doesn’t sound like someone who wanted Randle to be moved. Thibs also didn’t have the greatest relationship with KAT too

KAT is AD-lite with how much he can do on offense (though a significantly worst defender)

Despite his defense he can pretty much fit on any lineup in the league, something I don't think Jules can do with his bully ball play style. This was the right move, I didn't think the team could be called true contenders until the Randle question could be solved (whether it be him fitting in and actually showing something in the playoffs or getting shipped out)

Randle and Gobert are a god awful fit, sucks for minny fans.

On offense KAT isn't anyone's "lite".

I can really imagine Leon saying to Thibs, "Hey Thom, good buddy, I traded all the Nova boys and got you back some Dennis Smith Jr, TH Jr, and even found Elf sitting on a shelf. Nah, don't bother thanking me, I knew you'd be so happy I did this for ya."

Of course, trading for KAT was vetted by everyone of importance among the coaches and in the Front Office, and maybe a few players were in the loop as well
