Herb Jones is close to an untouchable. Great contract, all-defensive player and can shoot 3. He's OG without the injury. If the Knicks trade Mitch and 2 picks for Herb Jones. I would quickly say yes... which is not happening.

NO is 100% higher on Trey Murphy than they are on Herb. If they were to trade one of them, it’d be Herb. But I see them taking offers on Ingram before either of those 2.

Gilbert Arenas says nba players don’t like to go off then be demoted back to role player. Explains why Donte may have felt this way. Gilbert predicts Donte and Randle wouldn’t want to come tryna fit in.

If this happened and Adam Silver blocked it like Stern did back in the day, I wouldn't even be mad. This would be insane for NO to do. Trading one of the best 3 and D wings on an amazing deal for an oft injured center would be grounds for investigations by the league.

donte in a lot of ways is still fighting for a bag.

so him being demoted back to backup and 20mpg is defintely something that could pigeon hole him and literally sink any chance he has at a big contract bc he cant keep showcasing his skills vs other starters.

I think this gets closer to the truth. He seemed to get on with Brunson and Hart just fine but I could see the Mikal trade not sitting well with him since that's direct competition for his spot.

Their center depth is worst than ours (before the KAT trade) and they have aspirations to get deep into the playoffs. Need to have a starting 5 before filling out the bench. All things are possible.

Forget Trey, I'd be shocked if they did Herb Jones.

I get Brandon Ingram and NO has been looking for a trade partner this offseason. On top of trying to find a team that wants him, BI has to be okay with an extension there. No one wants to be at the 2nd apron level and no one sees BI getting that ridiculous max that they can get these days.

Their media day is 2 days from now, so we will see.

You really think NO is willing to part ways with Herb Jones over Murphy?! NO sees him as a BI replacement?

If this was college... understandable. But this is a job for them and loyalty is really out the door. They will always be friends.

For us Knicks fans, we want to romantacize a perfect role model team to win a title. I'm too old for this sh.it.. i want a god damn title. If DDV has to go and this elevates us... I'm all for it.

And making 14m a year and he is healthy. That's why I don't see how NO is willing to trade him for Mitch. We would have to add a couple of FRPs.

the only reason I can see...is NOP are desperate for a big. They basically are relying on a rookie and the corpse of Theis.

Well. Didn't see this coming. I'm stunned just like KAT. I don't know what to make of this yet. I didn't find out until afternoon and haven't had time to focus on this trade yet. Lots of questions.

Most important is did this just disrupt the vibes? How do the remaining Nova boys feel about this? I hate losing Donte. There really was a minutes crunch though fully healthy. Hoping there is no bad blood because of this trade.

Seems like Mitch is next to go from the reports. What we get for him is anyone's guess. I won't be shocked if he's gone in a few days. If not, he is in his best role as a backup/minutes split center. Should help prolong his career and minimize the injury risk of losing him again. We shall see.

What does the starting 5 look like? Who gets the PF spot? With the Mitch rumors it just makes sense to wait and see what the final roster is. We now have two roster spots to fill as it stands.

Brunson/Bridges/OG/KAT are guaranteed starters. That's all we know right now. Do they add Hart and slide OG to PF? Precious at the 4? Tough to know until they finalize the roster.

I know that I really wanted to see this team fully healthy. That's over with. Oh well. I suppose we were built to beat the Celtics. The bench just got weaker for sure.

Mitch + WAS protected 1st for Richards + Cody Martin

Mitch + WAS protected 1st for Isiah Stewart

I think they're gonna send Mitch packing at some point for a healthier big.

The Ingram market is dead too. They might get stuck with him and have to offload one of their other wings to avoid aprons.

Add the fact that <check stats> Zion averages 5.6 rebounds per game last year! Who is grabbing those rebounds?!
