We have Sims, he can shoot 3s now as well

This fo deserves the benefit of the doubt!!!!!!!!!!!

I trust Leon and co to fix the bench issues soon!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep asking this but no one seems to know.

Best guess is they need to clear waivers and are free to sign anywhere again? Including former place, ie Knicks?

Best part of the trade is the Wolves forum reaction.

Hart off the bench as an energizer / 6th man makes sense. Then just have guys play there roles and stagger the starters. Thibs is gonna play the starters big minutes anyway.

Boston didn't have a ton of fire power off the bench...Pritchard, Horford, Hauser, etc. We can at least match that type of bench.
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone

Deuce was basically out of the rotation before this trade.

Glad he's going to get big mins now. He's ready to break out and surpass any production Donte could give as a bench player.

That’s why I’m surprised the board isn’t as apprehensive about this move as I am. We went from having a 9 man playoff rotation down to a 7. Maybe 8, if you think precious or Payne will be able to play. Kat and OG have missed a ton of games and our bench cavalry is washed Mook and a never good Shamet. We almost need to start Precious next to Kat to have our rotations make more sense.

Bench line up is probably Payne, deuce, hart, Mikal, sims? I like Deuce, a lot but going from 8th man to 6th man is a lot of added expectations and responsibility for him. Especially since he’s now expect to replace what Donte would have gave them off the bench. I’ve doubted him before and he's just kept developing. So maybe he’ll just rise to the occasion.

Hart isn't in the starting lineup yet. Even if he is, he plays multiple positions so backup SF is not a big issue. Bridges/OG/Hart can all play multiple positions. SG/SF/PF are pretty deep actually when you add Deuce/Payne/KBD/Precious to the mix. KAT can also play the 4.

We have to wonder who the backup PG is still. The only real PGs we have are Brunson/Kolek. Is the rookie really gonna crack the rotation? It's Payne/Deuce most likely pushing him down the bench. So, which SG gets the backup PG minutes?

How many minutes does KAT get at the 4/5? Sims is the backup 5 and Precious can see time there. Is Mitch ever going to suit up again? That's the big question.

All we know for sure are the 4 starters we can etch in stone. Brunson/Bridges/OG/KAT. The rest is up in the air right now.

I am still a little shell shocked from the KAT trade. Patiently waiting to see what the roster looks like in the preseason opener. Another move is possibly in the works as we speak. Seems like they are trying to do more with the Mitch rumors.

The roster isn’t complete yet and they’re still shopping Mitch. No point in worrying about the rotation at this point. We’ll be good..

I swear I suck at googling because trying to find these details is fuqing torturous

2025 first round draft pick from Detroit
Detroit's 1st round pick to New York protected for selections 1-13 in 2025, 1-11 in 2026 and 1-9 in 2027; if Detroit has not conveyed a 1st round pick to New York by 2027, then Detroit will instead convey its 2027 2nd round pick to New York (via Houston to Oklahoma City) [Detroit-Houston, 11/24/2020; Houston-Oklahoma City, 7/30/2021; New York-Oklahoma City, 6/23/2022]

In other words they won’t be good enough for Knicks to give them a first

Remember: Boston hates sending doubles. They refused to do it vs Luka too

I saw some KAT passing highlights okay okay I'm starting to get hyped

He hustles, he can pass, he may be able to play best D of his career this year

I remember during KP rookie season, I thought a center who could shoot like him was unseen before, so stoked we got a future all star, then vs Wolves I hated the thought KAT could be the better player than KP... hated it

All we did was lose Donte and we replaced Randle with KAT so our rotation shouldn't have gone down from 9 to 7. It depends on how you look at it. Mitch was still injured regardless so we were also going to start Randle with Precious or Jericho before the trade and I still envision Thibs doing that actually. Just because KAT is a better small ball 5 than Randle is doesn't necessarily mean we'll start him there

Most of the posts, but the first page overall is pretty good.

Saw some people thinking Randle is a sixth man in there, yeah that'll go over well with Julius.

Precious gets underrated here. As of right now he is a key rotation player, whos still very young and will improve.

Leon doesn’t miss

Trading Mitch means we think his career is over or that he’s one foot injury away from retirement

That’s the reality

Let's play pretend trade and lineup

Would the team be good enough to contend, making a few assumptions.

Knicks trade Mitch for Tre Murphy III.
Yes, it doesn't work straight up. Just assume that's the basis of the trade.

Knicks lose Mitch's rim protection and offensive rebounding in the 2nd half/playoffs.

Assumptions: That Hawkpootie is an adequate center. That Morris clears waivers and Knicks resign him.

Brunson/Payne/Kolek
Bridges/Brunson/Hart
Tre Murphy III/Hart/Dadiet
OG/KAT/Hart/Morris
KAT/Precious/Sims or Hawkpootie

Maybe Okeke or McCullars or Toppin to fill out the 15th spot, if financially possible.

Easier to parse rotation:

Brunson/Payne
Bridges/Deuce
Trey Murphy/Hart
OG/KAT
KAT/Precious

That's the 9 man rotation. Sims and/or Hawkpootie for depth at the 5 spot.
Morris for some depth at the 4 spot
MAYBE Okeke or McCullars for some depth at the 3. Or they let Dadiet spend the year on the pro roster. Probably not.

That's a LOT of spacing around Brunson, but they sacrifice the KNOWN rim protection of Mitch for the maybe Hawkpootie/Precious.

Can it win?

Golden State won with a non traditional C, but they had generational Steph, Draymond who was/is really unique, and a lot of Iguodala for the chip runs and his ability to play 2,3,4 was a BIG deal.

Just something fun to think about.
Except for Shams. He doesn't like to think about Louisiana Lazy no longer being on the team.
