Re: Breaking: KAT to the Knicks
Just trade the Gumbo Goof-off already and bring this guy in!
Would replace everything Donte did and then some, being taller and a better defender.
Although, in all honesty, I've already killed any trade by watching his highlights, as Knicks never get any player who I watch highlights of.
Except Brunson.
Oh, and OG.

I don't see why the Pelicans would trade Jones or Murphy for Mitch

I think we start Precious and then finish games with the Hart death lineup. Makes the most sense.
Hart is 6MOY type… then McBride gets 24+ mins backing up the 1-2. Maybe Payne or Kolek get 10 minutes or so. Then you got Sims (for now) getting 18 minutes or so. 9-man rotation until the playoffs. If we keep Mitch then he replaces Sims’s minutes and takes 6 more mins from Precious to be at 24.

Thibs is going into training camp with at least 2 completely new players in his starting lineup.
1st preseason game 7 days away.
So glad the roster was overhauled before the season begins. Plenty of time to work the kinks out.

Re: Breaking: KAT to the Knicks
Anyone a bit concerned on how Towns took the trade news? His IG post and then showing up to an event 12 hours later decked out in Wolves gear?! I know its a shock when you get traded but with this dudes history of being soft I'm hoping his emotional state is ready to embrace NY. Last thing we need is a disgruntled star creating drama and locker room tension. This unit has been really gelling last couple of seasons and they don't need that noise right now.

Came out of my depression to say rooting for the Knicks is a **** curse and I hate everything about this front office officially. Bring Isiah Thomas back for this bull.

Not only will he be at the top, but he's already the 6th highest paid player in the league before the trade kicker so he's impossible to trade. Not to mention in the last 5 years he's played less games than Embiid and KP, and he's arguably the worst defensive C in the league, and his hatred of Thibs is well documented.
CAA has ruined this franchise to give Leon Rose and his son's players mega contracts. 2/3rds of the salary cap going to OG and KAT, two of the 5 worst contracts in basketball easily.

We may have enough "dogs" to compensate. OG, Hart, Deuce and Brunson all have that fighter type mindset. Speaking of Brunson bringing in a KAT spaces the floor quite a bit. No one in the NBA can handle Brunson one on one. Now he will have even more space to work his magic. Brunson could lead the league in scoring.

Just scrolled back 5 pages to see if there’s any credible report or rumor of the Knicks shopping Mitch or if this board is just filled with terrible people. I think we all know the answer to that.

The Knicks overpaid somewhat to solve center and fit to get Towns.
Good centers don't grown on trees and Mitch is one.
Also, doesn't Mitch expire after this season? There might be a financial angle. I don't know. But we are in new CBA territory.
Hell, it made the Twolves trade Towns after they nearly had a championship run.
Maybe, but I think it's very clear the Knicks underpaid for Towns.

It's being reported that we're taking calls on him, the speculation about Herb is just pure fantasy.

Nope. Not worried at all.
Been on only one team for 8 years...almost made the finals....
He's a human. After he settles in, He will be fine.
No better place to play than NY. Brunson is an amazing leader, and that Garden energy is like a drug for competitive players.

Re: Breaking: KAT to the Knicks
Three playoff appearances in four years and the last two years winning a playoff series with a contention window still open another 4-5 years after two decades of ineptitude aside from one old man ring chaser season that had no sustainability but 'this FO ruined the Knicks'?

I was sick of watching Randle walk up and down the court and never engage defensively. I was tired of him pouting through the post season with horrid numbers. I'm glad I won't have to watch any more spin move turnovers. KAT is definitely an upgrade. I hope Thibs can get him to play up to his defensive potential.

that's a pretty bad bench. i don't know about this. this might be one of those classic knicks big trade mistakes.
That’s why I’m surprised the board isn’t as apprehensive about this move as I am. We went from having a 9 man playoff rotation down to a 7. Maybe 8, if you think precious or Payne will be able to play. Kat and OG have missed a ton of games and our bench cavalry is washed Mook and a never good Shamet. We almost need to start Precious next to Kat to have our rotations make more sense.
Bench line up is probably Payne, deuce, hart, Mikal, sims? I like Deuce, a lot but going from 8th man to 6th man is a lot of added expectations and responsibility for him. Especially since he’s now expect to replace what Donte would have gave them off the bench. I’ve doubted him before and he's just kept developing. So maybe he’ll just rise to the occasion.
All we did was lose Donte and we replaced Randle with KAT so our rotation shouldn't have gone down from 9 to 7. It depends on how you look at it. Mitch was still injured regardless so we were also going to start Randle with Precious or Jericho before the trade and I still envision Thibs doing that actually. Just because KAT is a better small ball 5 than Randle is doesn't necessarily mean we'll start him there
We lost DDV but added Bridges/Payne at the 2. We lost Randle but added KAT. The rotation didn't shrink at all. We had a glut at the 2 guard spot before the trade and Donte was going to lose playing time. That's no longer an issue. As much as I hate losing DDV, there really is is no drop off in talent compared to last season. Depth may take a slight hit if injuries pile up but, meh. Bridges is an iron man. He is DDVs replacement. Seems like an upgrade to me.
KAT wouldn't be a small ball 5 . He's a 7 footer. Until we find out the final roster it isn't going to matter but, either Precious or OG could start at the 4 and it's not a small ball lineup.
Randle/Mitch/OG missed a lot of time and Shart was on one leg most of the time. We still finished as the two seed and made game seven of the second round. I see no reason to be apprehensive at all. We didn't lose anything we haven't replaced already. Time will tell what we really have and what we really need soon enough. Still a playoff team and title contender. What the problem is?
