At the end of the day, when y’all see Towns play the tune will change. When you’re not use to seeing skilled big men on team, you will immediately notice the impact.

Windy is saying that there's going to be a cap logjam for the next year or so cuz the TV money is going to kick in after then. Agents are somewhat worried about players that heading into free agency next summer. So for now the aprons are really locking everything up for the good teams and rebuilding ones are the few with money. I bet we could have resigned Randle for like 3 yrs 105 cuz of this.

Can you imagine people moaning about a starting unit with OG Anunoby, MIkal Bridges, Jalen Brunson and Karl Anthony Towns after the past 25 years of Knicks history?

Nah, I can't either. Nobody would be that ridiculous

I was thinking the same amount but I bet they told Randle's agent that and being paid less than OG isn't something Randle wanted to do I guess.

It is little crazy but in his last season, if he's done well, he's still a big name, lots of talent as a shooter at least, and a big salary. Plus as the Knicks move to that last year or so, they'll open up more 1sts to trade. Not that crazy. Little crazy.

so we traded with minny for kat who they wanted off their books. and we're gonna send him back there for ant in a few years. and it's only a little crazy. is this what you're telling me ? :D

I don’t like KAT — at all. And he lost his job to Naz. All true. But he’s still a skilled big and has a chance to transform. I’m doubtful. But you know they’re never going to want to trade a top player, never gonna get fair value, some is keeping a salary slot. Ingram and pieces for AD. Gallo and Chandler. And Moz — we both whiffed.

When did Naz take KAT’s job? Naz is a bench big rn and won’t be starting ahead of Randle either.

These contracts being signed recently are like the summer 2016 contracts. Accepting terrible contracts expecting them to keep getting worse is never a good idea there's always a saturation point. But Leon got what he wanted. The value of CAA has to have skyrocketed since he became Knicks president.

Actually, I just checked. Turner can’t even be extended until the end of the season. Meaning he could potentially be lost for nothing. Because yes, he’s going to get ridiculous contract once he hits the open market as an UFA.

Nothing > KAT for $60 million

So being over the cap with no way of signing players is better than acquiring one of the best bigs in the league? Yeah, okay

Well...I found this article as I continue to learn more about Towns:

Karl-Anthony Towns once gushed about the chance to play for the Knicks. He’ll soon live that reality.Towns, whom the Knicks are acquiring in blockbuster deal from the Timberwolves, spoke with The Post’s Steve Serby for a Q&A before the NBA draft lottery in 2015
.
Towns — who grew up in Piscataway, N.J. — was widely expected to be the No. 1 pick in the draft after starring at Kentucky for one season
Towns said he dreamt of playing for his hometown team.“It would be an honor, not only as a player, but as a Knicks fan, to be able to play for that organization,” Towns said at the time. “It’s gonna be, I guess a childhood dream — rooting for the Knicks all this time, and the next thing you know, you hear an organization call your name to go out there and give it your best shot. I think it would be very cool, and really very honored and blessed to be able to play for them.”

At the time, Towns felt prepared to be be viewed as a “savior.”“You know what? I guess it comes with the territory,” Towns said. “It comes with the territory. We gotta be willing to take that stress head-on, and I feel I’m ready for that. If that needs to be my role — I don’t think that’s gonna be my role, I think I could just be a help to my teammates.“I’m gonna try and work very hard to give them the best chance to win, but it’s not as a savior, you can’t do it all by yourself. That’s why no one is bigger than nobody else. Everyone’s helping each other to get to one common goal, and that’s to win a championship and win games.”

Towns also revealed his favorite parts of New York City.“I like the scenery,” Towns said. “Times Square is awesome. Being able to walk around, I love going to New York, have some pizza. When I was younger, I played in Rucker Park once, it was awesome.“There’s so much history behind New York, and so much history that it takes people lifetimes to realize it all.”

I think this is the perfect time for Towns to come home to NY. Look at how he felt 9 years ago...

I mean I don't know about all this. Brunson is an absolute Dawg. Hart is junk yard. OG is lockdown with limbs. Bridges is a near elite defender and iron man. I think we're more than all right.

I just think the team identity is changing too much with a Randle for KAT swap. I always think back to last years playoffs in Cleveland when randle absolutely manhandled mobley during a late game free throw rebound. Bulldozed the hell out of that straw man and you could see in mobleys face he knew they couldn't compete with the physicality. That was on a bummed ankle too.

I don't trust KAT to be a physical force or intimidating presence. I don't expect him to crash glass, draw doubles, make the right reads and passes to our shooters. I don't expect him to be a secondary ball handler and relieve pressure for Brunson. All I expect from him is to space the floor and shoot 3s. I pray he surprises me.

KAT has never averaged less than 8 boards a game and had over 12 RPG for three seasons
