He is big part of our identity but he is a role player. We just got player that is similar to him ( i would say consistently better) for 22M. Caruso who is better signed for less than 10.
If he wanted max or close to max and our front office has any algorythm to predict players value.... than it will be very hard to come to agreement. We also have Black and Howard who could replace him in the future.

KCP is nowhere close to Suggs. Caruso is not better than Suggs after factoring in age + potential. Black and Jett have to prove they can see, and contribute, on an nba court for extended time before factoring them into anything.

The hype for KCP has gotten to ridiculous levels. Heard about it all offseason. Guy was an average starter/ role player journeyman on 3 teams before landing in the best possible situation in Denver. Never made an all-team defense but he’s a GOOD defender. People need to chill on the KCP hype thinking he’s some kind of X-factor here. He’s a 4th option only to Carter who will probably outscore him most nights.

KCP isn't a star level player, but he is a solid NBA starting caliber SG who shoots 40% from the 3 and plays solid defense. With the stars already on this team, he just needs to be that key role player and I think he will fit swell here.

Apologies. Angel had recently stated that the next guy she dates will have to be at least 6'7 and an NBA player. Paolo checks off both and is very close in age. She seems pretty toxic so don't want to see our star have any distractions.

You mean hype for Suggs gotten to ridiculous levels ? I was defending Suggs when most of people here gave up on him. I am not sure about you, but it doesnt really matter. Thing is i like Suggs a lot, but max contract and better than 2x champion ? What has he accomplished ? Two bad seasons, one good season and bad playoff series ?
Even when you look at KCP first PO, 22 years old same as Suggs. 15.3/4.3/2.8 44%/44%/71%.
Suggs on the other hand 14.7/5.1/3.3 40%/29%/76%.
KCP nowhere Suggs ? Open your eyes..... and its not that KCP is some kind of hidden all star, but its about Suggs. As much as i like him.

Suggs NOT having a deal is the best possible outcome for us and to a potential lesser extent. Him.

He blows up and turns into Brandon Roy pre injury. - Unlikely - he wins, we win.

Nobody thinks Suggs should or will get a max. At least I don't.

We will see what Suggs does this season. He has shown more than being a 3&D role player, which is why he's considered the third part of the core and not a better version of Gary Harris.

Don’t care that my near decade long vision didn’t look great in the playoffs. I’m ready to see more 8-)

He gets a lot of undo blame for the playoffs, homecourt advantage was the real difference maker, not Wendell Carter Jr.

Ditto...and if his offensive game ticks up just a bit (3pt shooting closer to 40%)...he could be what Bamba should have been (in our wildest dreams)...a perennial DPOY candidate who could potentially lead the league in Blocks AND steals or deflections, switch effortlessly, and spread the floor reliably on the other end. :o

Carter has two more seasons, including this one, on that amazing deal, so I see no reason to move him until it becomes clear that it won't make financial sense to keep him. WCJ is a solid player, good enough to start, but versatile enough to get minutes at 4/5. That would be a solid platoon with both minimizing their injury exposure by not being over-played, in terms of minutes. That being said, it turns Mo Wagner and Goga into over-qualified, overpaid deep bench players who might be useful trade bait when this season reveals what our primary needs are to take the next step.

Like anybody, I've seen that Isaac wreaks the most havoc on the perimeter - but moving him down to Center still makes sense given our defensively nightmarish backcourt of Suggs, KCP, AB, Harris. I'm excited to see how this develops.

I'll add that that is a LOT of added muscle weight (to carry) added in a very short time for a guy who has been very fragile. Hopefully, the added "armor" contributes to his injury-resistance rather than increases his likelihood of breaking down.

Question for the salary cap experts here.
If we sign Suggs now to a new deal would that limit the available cap space in the next free agency period? Like is there an advantage for us to wait until next off-season for more cap flexibility or does it come down to they just can't agree on a number or other terms?

Sure but his skinny legs scared me as well.
