A player worth $30m these days is Immanuel Quickley. $56m is the new $30m.

Do you still not trust team leadership? I’ve accepted to trust their moves. I wasn’t sold on trading RJ/IQ for OG at the time. Took me a few days but then came around to it. Until the team drastically gets worse from a deal, I’m open to what they see as best.

You better than me. To me this looked like an agent getting his last major client who's on a giant deal a spot on a decent squad instead of Siberia (Detroit) shortly after getting his son's biggest client one of the most insane contracts of the offseason after shorting his godson.

i wouldn't consider MItch an asset. If he's healthy, Knicks would be better off to just keep him. If he's not healthy, no one really wants that.

If one of the rookies pops, i would look to move them for established vets

IIRC, Precious can't be moved this year.

I'm pretty sure Precious can be moved at the deadline.

you're right, normally players on 1 year deals can't be traded

By returning on a one-year deal, Achiuwa had the right to reject any trade during the 2024-25 season. He waived that right and can be moved as soon as Jan. 15, 2025.

In part it does seem panicky bc they lost iHart. If he stays maybe Randle comes back. But if Randle had heart or was a reliably good big, especially in the playoffs, they wouldn’t deal him.

Can’t overlook KAT’s playoffs but also can’t overlook that Josh was a better PF than Randle come playoff time.

I dont think it'll be disastrous like previous trades, as long as he stays healthy. But I really think it caps the knicks ability to win it all. Hate that this is who they tied to Brunson'a prime

I just don't see anyone outside of the Celtics that's great and even they're getting a little long in the tooth (Jrue/Horford), the league is completely wide open until Victor is ready to destroy worlds.

What was their talent for all these years?

They didn't have Anthony Edwards or Rudy Gobert. Jimmy Butler got hurt in his only full season with the team. Otherwise their second-best player was Andrew Wiggins who was RJ Barretting his way to 20 ppg before going to Golden State, where he only gave a speck of effort for one season. D'Angelo Russell? A young Zach Lavine?

I agree that the defense will suffer with him playing the 5 but the offense will benefit greatly.

I guess we will see but I think Minnesota's lack of success had more to do with a general lack of talent than any positional issues with KAT. They were 3rd in the West when Butler got hurt before the playoffs, and KAT was playing the 5 then. I think a lot of Minnesota's issues were contextual. Think who they even traded Butler for - Saric, Bayless and Covington lol.

The Timberwolves had a much better net rating with KAT off the court even in the 2024 playoffs. Doesn’t really sound promising especially when he got benched a decent amount of times because Naz Reid was better.

That's a fair cause for concern.

Both KAT and Naz Reid had among the worst on/offs per 100 possession on the team in the playoffs. Meanwhile Gobert was by far #1 on the team, and the Wolves had a hugely positive net rating when Gobert was playing with either KAT or Naz. It's when KAT and Naz played together that the Wolves got smoked in the postseason.

Who was playing the 5 in those KAT-Naz lineups is a question I don't have the answer to.

You know that's a great point that I can get behind. Everyone is fcked in a couple years. So if they think this trade brings them closer might as well make it cause that French freak is about to ruin the league real quick.
