The entire point of going small is to sacrifice size/rebounding for spacing and defensive flexibility. And then when Brook is on the floor with Giannis, rebounding is literally never an issue.

We've had key games and series' decided on not being able to rebound during the Brook era, like: Toronto in '18-'19 & last yr vs. Indy. But we had that advantage during the Championship run, w/ PJ & True running down balls. Having Brook as your center means other guys, especially your 3, are going to have to grab many of those boards, where he's just boxing out or tapping balls. Khris averaged 9 rebounds v. Indy & it still wasn't enough given Brook & the backcourts.

We killed the Raptors on the boards in the 2019 ECF (53.7% TRB, and 23.1% ORB to their 46.3% and 16.4% respectively), and if you really wanna use a series last playoffs where we barely got out-rebounded (50.7% to 49.3%) despite not having Giannis as proof that it's gonna be an issue going forward, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Hell, the Warriors were the 2nd best rebounding team in basketball last year with old-ass Steph, Klay, and CP3 taking up 70% of the available backcourt minutes. I can't think of many things less important/impactful than guard rebounding.

I gotta wait and see how he handles Green getting more minutes than GTJ the first game of the season.

My primary hope is that Doc sat down and really worked out what our offense and defense looks like from a coaching perspective.

BUCKnation wrote:Not too concerned about Giannis and Dame not meeting up. Would have been nice to get a week together or something, but both seemed to have incredibly busy off-seasons and realistically, what can you really get out of it that you can't in camp/practice.

The fact that Giannis and Dame didn't meet once in nearly five months during the off-season raises concerns about the level of commitment and dedication.

Would practicing together a couple times in the off-season significantly improve their on-court performance? Probably not.

But those off-season workouts are what builds (Much needed between Giannis/Dame) chemistry and continuity between your two best players and most importantly, it shows that you are locked in and committed to playing team basketball.

I find it hard to believe that between May & September, Giannis & Dame were both so busy that they literally couldn't get 1 workout in together.

Like I said earlier, maybe Dame was blowing up Giannis' phone the past 5 months to workout and Giannis was just too busy.

But when I think of Lack of commitment (to winning/Milwaukee). I certainly don't think of Giannis....or Jrue. I'll just leave that at that.

Who can match up w/ 3's? And the rebounding's really going to suck.

I think that's my biggest concern for this team going in & 3-guard lineups would exacerbate it. Brook can't rebound directly, neither can Trent, Dame, & Prince. Green's mediocre at best for a 2, terrible for 3. Wright's the only one who's a plus rebounder, & last yr wasn't even for whatever reason.

Livingston being useful this season is very important cuz he can actually rebound for a 3 & would be fine as a 4 next to Giannis in small ball. Probably the best big wing guarder. Might be able to guard guards too. It's going to come down to his shot.

Princes unwillingness to rebound is going to lead to him being a real net negative here, just like he was everywhere else he's played.

Darvin might still be coaching the Lakers had he dumped Prince from the rotation. I hope Doc recognizes what scrub Prince is early.

Too bad that wasn't the problem. Biggest problem with the offense had been the same thing for years, too many terrible passers surrounding our stars.

Dame and Giannis finding no time to workout together is disappointing.

Brother Daver. Murray and Jokic have maybe the best chemistry in the league and have been teammates for the best part of a decade. These situations are not comparable at all.
