Clips say yes as fast as they can. They get a remarkable deal here.
Decent trade for the Bulls. I think they do it.
I don't see the point for Portland to do this. You downgrade talent and give up 2 seconds to save ~$20M in '25-'26 and get the pick returned (which may end up being worth 2 seconds).... There MAY be an argument here if Ball could play - but I still don't like the fit for Portland.
I'd stay with the status quo and assume that there are better deals that will occur later in the season.

I think this is light for PDX and would prefer to keep RWIII and dump him after building his value.
Ayton + Thybulle for Vuc + Ball + PDX FRP would be my counter.

Hard no from POR.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Re: Port-Chi-LAC
Ayton to CHI for Vucevic\Ball and their 1st back could work (value-wise), however, I don't see POR doing that mind you, but IMO it is on the low side of acceptable.
It would have to include more players though, I can't see POR going over the luxury tax to take back Ball\Vucevic.
POR is $3.7 under
CHI $4.7 under
Ball\Vucevic for Ayton adds $7.3, taking POR over the luxury tax, a no no for a 21-win team.
Ayton\Thubulle for Vucevic\Ball\Phillips & POR 1st back could work. POR would have to release\offload a player.
Sending out (2) 2nd round picks is a non-starter, not sending additional value to trade away Ayton, absolutely zero reason to do so, he has only 2 years left, POR is under the luxury tax and he can take up the starter minutes while Clingan (who only played 22min/game LY) gets his conditioning up\feet wet this year
RW3 gets dealt for nothing? Nice deal for the Clips. No reason for him to be included in this deal, WHEN he is traded it will be for value back, not as a throw in\salary dump. If he stays healthy he could fetch a decent return at the trade deadline and if not, his value won't be any lower, No reason for POR to trade him now unless another team wants to make it worthwhile.

PDX OUT - DeAndre Ayton + Matisse Thybulle
PDX IN - Nikola Vucevic + Lonzo Ball + 2 SRP via HOU + PDX FRP via CHI
CHI OUT - Nikola Vucevic + Lonzo Ball + PDX FRP
CHI IN - DeAndre Ayton + Jeff Green
HOU OUT - Jeff Green + 2 SRP
HOU IN - Matisse Thybulle
Could something like that work?

Like a hanging curveball I saw that one coming before I rolled down.
The only selling point of the original trade is cutting money off the 2nd year of Ayton. If Clingon makes quick progress Vucevic isn't going to be happy going to a reserve role a month after stating he wants to play a couple of years after his contract runs out. If Lonzo Ball is healthy PORT has absolutely no room to play him, he brings plenty to the Bulls.
the second idea is not that great for the Bulls either. Jeff Green is no more useful to a retooling team than PJ Tucker. They've already got Torrey Craig to bring energy off the bench while they see how much Julian Phillips has or if they try Matas Buzelsi.

Re: Port-Chi-LAC
I would think that the selling point is CHI wanting Ayton, he is 7? years younger than Vucevic and the better player (IMO), has 2 years left on his deal (like Vucevic) and under this new CBA is likely not going to get as big of a contract as he has now, so, maybe, depending on your outlook of him, could be a value on his next contract.

I don’t see that counter as much better.
