Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Maxey is gonna need to be a 25+ ppg scorer with the new team for us to do anything this season. It seems like (and thats only based on the press conference) that Embiid is going to take a backseat on his scoring load, which will be great if he plays better on the other end and focuses on rebounding. I think Maxey can and will make that jump, but it's going to have to be more of his team than him being Robin.
I'm hoping the Olympics gave Embiid the understanding of sacrifice in order to win.

Yes, and PG will have to put up over 20 a night as well. Nothing those players haven't done before. I just hope Embiid actually does what he says and isn't just paying it lip service. We'll see.

Maxey averaging 25+ ppg is a stone-cold mortal lock.
If Jo really takes a back seat on offense, Maxey could push 30 ppg.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I think Maxey will average 25 ppg , with better % than last year, as our team is better, he will not have to force a lot of bad shots. He will probably get back to 40% from 3, and he will up his assists a little bit too, since he will get a lot of easy ones passing to PG lol.

Hope JoJo has finally figured it out, it's about damn time.
Maxey being a +25 ppg scorer it's the only way i see us winning a championship, but i don't have worries he's going to show up.
My issues come from Biid and PG13 health and leadership/toughness, plus some holes on the rotation that need to be adressed, speacilly the PF position.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Maxey averaged 26 ppg in the regular season and 32 ppg in the playoffs on good efficiency. Not too worried about 25 ppg this year lol

Embiid is talking like Duncan played. If this becomes anywhere near reality, things are looking up.

My take: if Embiid wins DPOY (and plays like DPOY in the playoffs), we win the championship.
It would also elevate Embiid's career reputation. How many players have both an MVP and DPOY? It's a short list. Even Duncan (criminally) never got a DPOY award, despite having the best DefRtg of any player who played since 1985.

Guerschon Yabusele, Caleb Martin, Tyrese Maxey, and Kelly Oubre Jr. were standouts in the Sixers first training camp session

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
My hot take, reading between the lines: We’re going to take load management to the next level to keep Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid fresh throughout the season. I expect Andre Drummond, Reggie Jackson, and Eric Gordon to play significant roles in making that happen.
Additionally, I see us utilizing a Yabusele-Embiid frontcourt as our counter to teams that play big, giving us the flexibility to match size and physicality.

I don't think it's a hot take to see George and Embiid limited to 60-65 games or so, while Maxey comes in at around 70.
And there are definitely going to be games where Jackson, Lowry, and Gordon play 30+ minutes.

Tyrese Maxey says that Paul George’s shooting/quick trigger and size have really stood out in these first few days of practice. Described him as a “plug-and-play” star who lets the game come to him. Noted a clutch factor in his game, adding that George hit the game-winner today.

Win the first 3 quarters and let Drummond and Maxey close it out.

This. Won't happen every night, but try and jump inferior teams early and let Maxey, Drummond and a few vets like Lowry, Jackson, Gordon, Oubre take us home in the 4th.Eyeamok wrote:76ciology wrote:My hot take, reading between the lines: We’re going to take load management to the next level to keep Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid fresh throughout the season.
