Doubt it. Mitch's injury puts the Knicks in a sell low mode. If he's traded, the earliest in my opinion would be at the February trade deadline assuming he shows he's playing at 100% when he returns.
Well if Herb Jones and or Murphy are in play....it ain't sell low ... atleast to the Pelicans. They are thirsting for a defensive center and Mitch might be far and away the best available one....

As long as there are more than two teams interested we’re ok, we could also tell those teams we are going for the best record, the only reason we would trade Mitch now, if you want to wait to see if he’s healthy to trade for him, guess what, we keep him, so now is your only chance to get him. Let the teams bid against each other.

Mitch, Deuce, 2031 1st round pick, 2033 1st round pick, 2036 1st round pick, 2039 1st round pick, 2042 1st round pick, 2045 1st round pick, for Tre Murphy and Kessler.

Time is now, no time for half assing and half stepping.

Well if that other team is the Lakers, they gave nothing we'd want. But I think that Mitch has more value to The Pelicans than most other teams...and being a home town kid is icing on the cake.

Not sure we have enough assets to pull this off, but a 3 team trade with Mitch going out and Ayo Dusonu (Bulls) and Nick Richards (Hornets) would be great. Gets us to 13 roater players and opens about $2.3MM in additional space below the 2nd apron - opening up a 2nd vet min slot

Towns/Richards
Anunoby/Precious
Bridges/Hart
Dusonmu/McBride
Brunson/Kolek(Payne)

Hornets are now hard capped at the 1st apron. They cannot take on extra salary.

All the lineups with OG at the 4 never put who the 3rd string 4 will be. That position is crucial and someone we will be leaning on all season long

I don't want to give up that 2045 First Round pick. Lebrons grandson might be draft eligible.

Yea those make the most sense.

KAT will get minutes at both spots likely. Probably more at C though under Thibs.

Last day for players on fully non-guaranteed contracts to be waived and not count at all against a team’s 2024/25 cap

October 21:
Roster limits decrease from 21 players to 18 (5:00 pm ET). Teams will be limited to carrying 15 players on standard contracts and three on two-way deals as of this deadline.

Last day for teams to sign an extension-eligible veteran player with multiple seasons left on his contract to an extension. An extension-eligible veteran player on an expiring deal can still be extended after October 21
Last day for teams to complete sign-and-trade deals
Last day for teams to convert an Exhibit 10 contract into a two-way contract

Jan. 5:
10-day contracts may now be signed

Icing on the cake is the exact problem for the Pelicans. They need a rim-protecting center on the floor, not one that is enjoying beignet-eating contests with Zion while both are out with injuries. In this specific case, home comforts are not a positive.

We're going to get Aaron Gordon - at least so I understand from the general board.

Mitch-Deuce-Precious for Gordon and Denver ships one of their scrubs and a pick to Charlotte (again, ldo).

Knicks sign McCullar and Hukporti and two other random undrafted rookies (to whom they have the draft rights).
Swap Sims for DAJ possibly too?

Towns / Sims (or DAJ) / Hukporti
Gordon /Josh Hart / random rookie
Anunoby / Dadiet / random rookie
Bridges / McCullar
Brunson / Payne / Kolek

Why would Denver give up Gordon? They want a another Center to battle Minny?

I'm just regurgitating some GB nonsense. Apparently some no-info commentariat says Denver don't want to extend Gordon. Ergo, like Randle, he is up for trade.

I agree - it makes little sense. But I suppose theoretically Mitch could occupy the dunkers spot and play similar D to Gordon. Could he? Maybe? Or maybe a mixture of Precious and Mitch. And Deuce would improve their 3pt shooting theoretically.

He has one year left. So if Knix see him as a rental to win a championship maybe and maybe Denver doesnt think they can resign him
