Re: KAT to Knicks Part 3
I definitely understand the skepticism from some of our posters. We have a history of big men not working out like Amare and Antonio McDyess
KAT is injury prone, and he's got one of the more expensive contracts in the league. We lost 2 starters for him
I probably would have felt much better if we pulled the trigger towards the deadline after seeing the Nova Boyz for a few months. If they weren't cutting it, then you make the trade.
Obviously, the big difference is Knicks are actually a well-respected winning team right now.
And of course, I like that we got rid of No Handle Randle. Losing DDV still hurts, and probably will for a while. I was really looking forward to watching all the nova boyz together. But, I'm not sure I could stomach Randle's stat padding and playoff choking again. It looks like the Knicks couldn't either and decided to be proactive for once.

The bench really inspires little confidence. We need to see a legit backup PF/C brought in.
We need someone off the bench - preferably a guard - who can score the ball.
We're a little thin but we still have Deuce and Precious and TJ Warren should also make the squad.

I think everybody remembers that photo, lmao
Do we even know if that picture was released from the Eddy Curry team? Looking back on it now, that very well could have just been a fan pulling a prank.

I think Thibs has been slowly giving that level of trust he had for IQ to Duece. I think our staff believes he is capable or else you don’t send Donte out. The Can Payne signing is a CYA move, but Duece probably has levels they seen in practice we haven’t seen yet. I expect him to have a good season showing those levels with a longer leash.. plus come post season if we are mostly healthy bridges most likely will be there to be the primary option.

Deuce has way more trust that IQ based on earning it. Dude's first foray into the playoffs and he nailed it versus elite competition on the biggest stage in the NBA. And TJ Warren can still get buckets,,,he was lighting up Mikal in practice...

In addition, I am hoping for Kolek to be 2nd PG after the break & McCullar to become better version of Grimes.

Re: KAT to Knicks Part 3
Two decades ago we were heading into the 04-05 season
Just acquired Jamal Crawford to form a dynamic backcourt with Stephon Marbury.
Drafted Trevor Ariza in the 2nd round. Still had high hopes for Mike Sweetney.
We had Tim Thomas, Kurt Thomas, and Nazr Mohammed. Even had Jerome Williams who wasn't bad at all.
On paper, the 04-05 Knicks were a fairly balanced team.
Allan Houston was supposed to come back healthy. Penny Hardaway was supposed to have something still left in the tank. Both of their knees were shot
We started 16-13 but then went 17-36 the rest of the way. Our main supporting cast all got hurt at pivotal points throughout the season. Steph and Kurt had great seasons, but the Knicks needed to win 10 more games to make the playoffs.
We threw the towel early on the season when we decided to trade Nazr for Malik Rose and two 1st round picks. Spurs went on to win a championship. Nazr started every playoff game alongside Duncan, allowing them to bench Rasho Nesterovic.
Nazr was only 27 and he was the only real size that the Knicks had. I think most people here thought that Nazr was holding Sweetney back.
What a different time back then.

I don’t think he literally meant exactly 2 decades.
More like 1999/2000 as our last truly talented teams.

Sprewell truly was the last great Knick before Brunson, let’s be real. They’ve had some good ideas but none of them were as promising as what Rose has been doing: pairing Stat and Melo, bringing in guys like Chandler and Sheed, drafting RJ Barrett, but that’s basically it. For the most part, this team should’ve tanked much harder after Amare went down.
So: the time is now.

Man I was a hard-core Tim Thomas believer. What a letdown he was. I was a big Nazr fan too and hated the Malik Rose trade.
