Primo signed and cut same day - how truly incompetent is the bulls franchise?
Subject is the topic. We signed and cut, in the same day, a well known previously suspended offender after trading for an alleged offender. Do the fools in charge have a clue?

Probably some type of agent favor that has to do with technicalities of some sort I'd guess.

Usually those are planned cuts. Sign player, then waive them and sign them to your G-League affiliate to retain their rights.

We shouldn’t want anything to do with him at all. He’s a legit predator.

Oh I definitely agree. Was very shocked at the signing.

Most likely a G-League deal....
On topic, what exactly was done? I never really read much into his "ordeal", all i thought I had seen was something about indecent exposure but then charges dropped without evidence? Did more happen? I legitamately just never followed the story and want to know more.

By signing and cutting, I believe they gain his exclusive rights in the g-league and can offer him a greater g-league bonus.

Effectively he exposed himself to the team therapist he was working with on multiple occasions, she complained to the Spurs after the first offense and they took no action, and it happened again, and she sued the Spurs over inaction (settled out of court) and Primo was cut. He was investigated by the NBA and suspended 4 days for whatever happened, all criminal charges against him were dropped due to lack of evidence.

So do we have his rights or no? Like if he rehabs/balls out in G League i hope he just doesn't become a UFA or else this was just pointless.
The Spurs really know what they're doing, he's still only 21 and based off some extensive youtube scouting he looks like he has a pretty OK shot =). Assuming his creepy era is behind him I'd be all for giving him minutes with Giddey and Matas during a tank season.

This is sick. People that do what he did don’t get over it. They escalate. He will end up in prison for assaulting a woman once he stops being coddled as an athlete.

Kids can learn from their mistakes. Whether he will or not, I don't know. He's clearly a dumb kid. But to say he WILL take it to further extremes isn't fair to him.

Meh, almost none of the facts are available to public and he was a dumbass 19 year old. If he was a multiple offender I'd say you're probably right and he's just a bad seed but i'd like to think losing his livelihood the last 2 years was a big of a wakeup call as you can get. I'm a believer in second chances and i hope he makes the most of it.

I ask this question with no agenda: do folks feel the appropriate punishment for Primo was a permanent ban from the league?
Or is it simply a matter of not wanting the Bulls to be the team that signed him?

Good question. Not sure, because we don't actually know the specifics of what his behavior included. I think he was cited for repeatedly flashing women. And because of that i agree with the Spurs decision to try to get him help. That seems like a legit issue. Especially since he exposed himself to the psychiatrist after all that.
Now, when the Spurs cut their losses, that was pretty damning. He was a lottery pick, and the Spurs stability as an organization means that was probably the best place for him. When they said, they couldn't do it anymore, that should let you know some things about him.
That being said, it was a few years ago, and we don't know what he's done in the meantime to get help and if he's grown at all. If the Bulls were confident that he has grown and he's not a threat, it's a relatively low risk pickup. See how he looks in the G-League, and if he looks good, you just signed a former lottery pick for cheap. These are the kind of moves, teams in our situation should look for to build for the future, since we're cash strapped and lack in assets.

He was young enough to figure it out. Plus he sounds like a guy with a porn addiction mentality.
I hope he got the help he needed.

In Giddey's case, innocent until proven guilty. In Primo's case, the front office clearly thinks he's talented enough to be on their G-League team.
You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

Re: Primo signed and cut same day - how truly incompetent is the bulls franchise?
A very fair question, Ashy.
I was really skeezed out at all the reports when Primo was all over the news. That he exposed himself to his therapist not just once or three times, but *nine* times over the course of many months. That's just wild. An unconfirmed report in his defense was that he often wore baggy athletic shorts and no underwear, and did not realize that his Primo beef was visible during their sessions. Her civil suit against him was dismissed.
Surely if he came in a couple times airing things out and she said something, someone had to have been in his ear to say "Joshey, put on some Hanes before you head into your session, homie".
Again that was all unconfirmed hearsay, but his defense's strange wording that he never "intentionally" exposed himself fits that storyline. I'm of the opinion that if he indeed was swinging freely, he damn well knew it after several sessions and did not change his behavior.
With all that rambling (my apologies it's Friday night and all), I simply don't want him on the team for the bad press. I accept that if he has an NBA skillset, he was punished his four games whether that's enough or not, and should be given a fair shot at making a roster. Just not ours!

He is a multiple offender. He exposed himself that women multiple times. Stop defending predators because they can play basketball.

He’s a scumbag. Sexual predators don’t change. This wasn’t a mistake. He did it repeatedly. Yes I think he should be banned from the NBA, but society is degenerate so let’s keep a young Diddy in training around.
