It’s funny that the same people that are criticizing you for analyzing his body language are the same people that over analyzed Randle’s body language for 5 years

Miami is trying to make a move for Randle. They're offering Jovic+Rozier+Bryant according to SI.

I don't think he's the type to get overly upset or excited about anything. At least not showing it. He was actually on the Shannon Sharpe show and they were talking about it and he seemed cool with it. I wouldn't read too much into body language. The barometer is how he actually plays at the end of the day. NYC isn't Minny. If he doesn't play hard it can get ugly real quick.

Yeah I think it's just everyone being on edge right now. Randle was a polarizing player and now he's been switched out for another polarizing player who has questions about his toughness and willingness to win. There's a lot of uncertainty here despite how good this looks on paper, so i get it.

He seems fine to me though he was cracking jokes with the media and what not

I think Thibs has been slowly giving that level of trust he had for IQ to Duece. I think our staff believes he is capable or else you don’t send Donte out. The Can Payne signing is a CYA move, but Duece probably has levels they seen in practice we haven’t seen yet. I expect him to have a good season showing those levels with a longer leash.. plus come post season if we are mostly healthy bridges most likely will be there to be the primary option.

Deuce has way more trust that IQ based on earning it. Dude's first foray into the playoffs and he nailed it versus elite competition on the biggest stage in the NBA. And TJ Warren can still get buckets,,,he was lighting up Mikal in practice...
That isn't concerning? TJ Warren is lighting up Mikal? TJ hasn't been in the league and excelled when there was no fans.

Get on your D, Mikal. He alao got lit up by Fortnite as a rookie which is why we didn't draft him.

I don't know his reasons but he clearly isn't thrilled to be here.

Kat has been a Knick fan all his life. If Kat didn't want to be here Leon Rose would have made sure he wasnt here.
Watch the club shay shay interview. Kat wanted to be drafted by the Knicks. His mother considered the garden the mecca. Kat's mom taught him so many lessons about life and even basketball; they were very close.
This is a dream come true for his mother who passed and for Kat. What you saw in that interview is a seasoned VET.
He is well aware of the media in NYC, has been well prepared and will not fall for any traps. Sit back and enjoy the ride
to the chip. This year or next year and at worst in year three... :D

Karl-Anthony Towns once gushed about the chance to play for the Knicks. He’ll soon live that reality.Towns, whom the Knicks are acquiring in blockbuster deal from the Timberwolves, spoke with The Post’s Steve Serby for a Q&A before the NBA draft lottery in 2015.Towns — who grew up in Piscataway, N.J. — was widely expected to be the No. 1 pick in the draft after starring at Kentucky for one season

Towns said he dreamt of playing for his hometown team.“It would be an honor, not only as a player, but as a Knicks fan, to be able to play for that organization,” Towns said at the time. “It’s gonna be, I guess a childhood dream — rooting for the Knicks all this time, and the next thing you know, you hear an organization call your name to go out there and give it your best shot. I think it would be very cool, and really very honored and blessed to be able to play for them.”

The Knicks infamously fell to the No. 4 pick and drafted Kristaps Porzingis, missing out on Towns — who went to the Timberwolves.
At the time, Towns felt prepared to be be viewed as a “savior.”
“You know what? I guess it comes with the territory,” Towns said. “It comes with the territory. We gotta be willing to take that stress head-on, and I feel I’m ready for that. If that needs to be my role — I don’t think that’s gonna be my role, I think I could just be a help to my teammates.“I’m gonna try and work very hard to give them the best chance to win, but it’s not as a savior, you can’t do it all by yourself. That’s why no one is bigger than nobody else. Everyone’s helping each other to get to one common goal, and that’s to win a championship and win games.”Towns also revealed his favorite parts of New York City.“I like the scenery,” Towns said.

“Times Square is awesome. Being able to walk around, I love going to New York, have some pizza. When I was younger, I played in Rucker Park once, it was awesome.“There’s so much history behind New York, and so much history that it takes people lifetimes to realize it all.”

Don't get me wrong, I want KAT to be here and am happy about the trade. However, I also want KAT to want to be here.

The highlighted part above is what I was missing. There was no "gushing" like we saw when Mikal got here. I thought KAT would say how much the past 9 years meant to him in Minny, then add "but OMG I am finally able to fulfill a childhood dream and play for the team I originally hoped would draft me." Instead, he mentioned how much the franchise meant to his mother (not him) and how being here means he'll be closer to his family (not, how he can't wait to win it all here).

I'm not the type to read much into things. However, my gut reaction says he's not crazy happy. At least, not yet. Just a personal observation.

How long before the majority turns on KAT? I say by game 3.

KAT is KAT. Don't expect the impossible. Don't expect him to be something he is not. Winning will allow us all to dismiss and ignore the shortcomings but whenever that first losing streak or slump hits, I'm curious to see how he handles it and even how fans handle it too.

I too don't think KAT seemed overly thrilled. It's not exactly easy leaving the place you were drafted to and finally making it to the WCF. But I know being a Knick means a lot to him, seeing his comments about how his mom felt about MSG. So I think there's alot of emotions behind the cameras.

If KAT's pregame ritual included a yogi, a shaman, and a psychiatrist just to get his "mentals" right so he wouldn't have a meltdown during the game, insulting fans, attacking referees, slapping laptops, bullying coaches, intimidating teammates, getting technicals.... Then I'd agree it may be of value to care about his body language...

KAT isn't like that so there's nothing to be alarmed about.

At the very least can the man at least play his first game in a Knicks Jersey before guys start the negativity

let's explore his true feeling revealed via microexpressions thoroughly.

he didn't even attempt a backflip, that to me is very telling.

He has a lot of work to do. I know people are happy to get rid of Randle, but KAT has his lion share of problems as well. He has to change the narrative about him. There's a reason why there was very few teams interested in trading for KAT.

True, but is isn't necessarily true that Thibs is Dr. Frankenstein nor is it true he "made" Julius.

Personally, I think Towns looked a bit down when talking about playing in the Garden because he was also talking about how much the Garden meant to his mother and probably also thinking about how much it would have meant to her to see him here at that moment.

I think he was fighting back getting choked up.

I think it's mixed emotions. He's more than likely thrilled to be in NY, and I think he's alluded to it. But he's also built a life in Minneapolis and a bond with the teammates and the fans. It's the only place he knew in his adult life so I can understand why it's tough with everything happening so fast. It has to be overwhelming.

Even Melo sounded a bit flat in his first interviews and he was basically pushing to come here.

I don't really care for training camp soundbites. But I can't wait to see them play and how they build chemistry.

I know Minny meant a lot to him. He never requested a trade so it had to have been really tough. Dude was shooting in their facility at 3 am after the trade was announced. It had to have been tough leaving. So I don't blame him for acting like that in his interviews so far. Honestly, as long as he balls out on the court, dude can be like OG anunoby for all I care

Heres my thing...I'm not bias about Kat or Randle. I just started watching the Knicks again last season. Before that I was a die hard from the Ewing days up until Mitch's rookie season. I only seen Randle play last year. When I judge someone I dig deep. Watch them extensively. That being said I got nothing against Randle. As far as Kat is concerned. When he was first drafted-
I labeled him soft- I was KP all day etc...

Fast forward...Last year because I have JMAC on my BAF team I watched every Minny play off game along with some regular season games. Kat is not soft. I was wrong. Kat is extremely mature- very intelligent- witty-savy-great locker room guy and he was beloved by the Minny community.

You gotta look at all of these things when you judge a player. That's why I told Starks to
watch the Club Shay Shay interview. There's an article I found that discussed who Kat's mother was - it went into how close Kat was with his mom etc...Kat saying what it meant to his mother is a reflection of what this franchise means to him.
The fact that he was so active in the Minny community for so long is precisely why he's going to be very careful with his first set of interviews. Kat is a good person. Something I was wrong about because I got the information 2nd hand from a source that I thought was a good one.

In my research I have found the complete opposite. If you go on the most popular Minny forums
the fans love Kat- Kat did a lot for the Minny community and was a model community member and teammate.
The same way that some are already assuming that he doesnt want to be here- imagine what the Minny community would assume if
he came out in his first interviews and said- OMG I'm finally home! Minny was too cold for me. I'm excited to be back home. To be honest I always wanted to come to NY first. etc etc...That would hurt a ton of fans that supported him for 9 years.

Kat's mom didnt raise him that way and if you research his mother you will realize that...
You gotta watch that Club shay shay inteview...in the interview Kat talks about Antman and his approach in their relationship
to help Antman grow etc...

Kat had meniscus surgery two months before the play-offs and came back and guarded the Joker. That tells me a ton about him.
He could have easily elected to miss the play-offs. Many talk about the Dallas series- we maybe his knee had enough by that point.

I say all of this to say. My suggestion to any Knick fan would be watch and read everything you can on Kat (not just one 7 minute interview where the reporters dont even have his full attention) Go to every forum -google his mom's name- etc and then form
your opinion :D
