The rotation will often extend to 9 or 10.

this one wouldn't make sense to me. Yes MItch is hurt a lot but Smart isn't a model of health either.

And then to lose a Duece...while not same high level defender...still very good defender and Duece is a better shooter.

Guys Marcus Smart makes 20M and 21M next year.

He would absolutely cost @ Mitch 14.3M for starters to have a chance to salary match within 110% and probably McBride.

I think the Knicks want the perfect backup veteran battle tested ball handling one who can also play the 2 to complement Brunson in Thibs system.

Kolek is a rookie with questionable defense and McBride is an undersized 2 (he is not an elite ball handler and ball distributor)

Mitch, McBride and Dadiet almost definitely would get us Marcus Smart. In fact its an overpay but Knicks willing to pay bigger prices for perfect fitting pieces.
