From a quote before he was drafted:

He’s not exaggerating. One AFC scout told our draft analyst Bob McGinn that he deemed Doubs “mentally frail” before then adding: “He wigged out at the Combine. He had so much anxiety and apprehension that he stayed in his room and never came out. Did not participate in the combine. After the initial day, he never came out. That was very much a concern that our scouts had. He’s probably no better than a third day guy at best.”

There's certainly something complicated going on. I definitely don't want to imply Doubs is mentally frail, but I have to imagine there's some crazy real life pressures going on right now. The staff managed Jaire's situation pretty well last year - fingers crossed it shakes out.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Wicks and Reed are the guys I would like to find a way to keep in a couple of years. Watson if he can stay healthy has the speed that can't be replaced too easily. Plus Watson was saying all the right things after the Willis games about just getting a win.

Yea at this point I think the priority of who to keep should clearly be Reed, Wicks, & Kraft over everyone else. Deal Doubs/Watson/Musgrave when the time comes and restock with new rookie pass catching options.

Nobody is bigger than the team. The Packers sent this message with Jaire last year and he’s been amazing since. The same will be done with Doubs and he’ll come around or he’ll be gone sooner then later.
If the Raiders are having a bit of a fire sale. Maxx Crosby is who we should be building a package to get. He’s a truly elite pass rusher and game changer.

See ya Romeo. Deal him for a 3rd-rounder and get him away from the locker room ASAP. Dude is a special kind of dumb if this is how he's gonna handle this.

This just comes out of left field, IMO. The vibes seemed so good offensively that I did not expect this kind of reaction - especially from Doubs, of all receivers, who has been a key part of our offense for the last two years. I know that these guys want to get paid eventually and numbers matter. But to bail on your team in Week 5 does not make sense and hurts your cause. He had to know that the offense was going to shift with Willis at QB. And that Love was just working his way back into the offense. And that he has always been a valuable target for Love - a security blanket, if you will.

Of all the receivers, Doubs came off as the guy I least expected to flip out like this over something so stupid. I have to hope there's more to this and that whatever it is, they'll resolve it.

Additional roster changes beyond the Dobbs suspension:

The Green Bay Packers have placed WR Romeo Doubs (DOBBS) on the reserve/suspended list for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, signed CB Robert Rochell (roh-SHELL) from the practice squad to the active roster and elevated FB Andrew Beck from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Saturday.

Doubs is not good enough to be a distraction. Don't need that vibe in the locker room.

Super bummer about Rome. I had high hopes for him in the Donald Driver mold that he was just gonna be a rock solid Packer WR for a long time (not the all time great Driver was, but the longevity). That’s ridiculous, however. He has been getting plenty of opportunity since day 1 and WR is hands down the easiest position to fill on a NFL roster. The kid from Alabama is 17yrs old, they’re getting younger and better each and every year. The draft is littered with WR talent, Doubs isn’t going to be even remotely difficult to replace. He can gtfo immediately now if this is the attitude he’s going to have, we don’t need that **** in the locker room.

This is some bizarre ****.

1. We barely threw the ball with Love out
2. He’s not good enough to be doing this
3. He’s literally hurting his cause if a payday is what he wants

If you consider two strategies:
A. Play, do your best, maybe get less receptions than you would in other circumstances but hope your tape and other teams knowing the circumstances carries the day come contract time.

B. Hold out in middle of season for reasons that don't hold water considering QB injury and weapons team has.

The people surrounding him have to see that strategy B isn't going to end well or get you paid.

Perhaps Doubs saw how many targets Wicks got last week (13) versus him (8) and is concerned he's being passed over. Wicks is probably supplanting him on some routes. Doubs probably is worried that he's a solid 3/4 on the WR depth chart behind Reed, Wicks, and big play Watson (when healthy). Then you factor in Kraft and Musgrave and Jacobs and now you're worried that your target share will shrink even more.

Thing is, each of those receivers brings something different. And I submit that Doubs is probably the most dependable security blanket out of any of them. He is who Love looks for on 3rd down and he had more first down receptions than anyone. And no one knows what the future holds, and how injuries might cause things to ultimately shake out.

But by throwing a tantrum and going home, all Romeo Doubs is doing is giving the team the chance to see how good the offense will look without him. And if the offense keeps on cooking - if guys like Heath and Melton cover his production - he will have just killed his leverage.

Romeo may not love his next qb situation when he's traded.

That's really sad about Doubs.

So it seems we have one wr is who physically frail and another who is mentally frail. If I'm Gutey I'm on the phone with the Raiders offering Doubs and Watson for Adams if possible.

My heart says yes to Adams, but the head says Max Crosby.
