Kessler will ask for a buyout and we get him for pennies in March

Never would have guessed that Bronny went 1/6 for 2 points, 1 assist, and 1 rebound with the amount notifications I got sent from the nba app. They even made a highlight package of him “flashing his two way potential.” No wonder that story about the warriors not drafting Bronny as a favor for Lebron came out recently. The league and the press has to keep pretending this kid is a player until they Tebow him with media circus. The funny thing is that story basically says Warriors passed on potentially improving their team to do Lebron a favor. Which is kinda crazy when it’s framed properly.

Tatum is still the next player I predict whose career to suddenly fall off a cliff... ala Deron Williams, Ben Simmons... if he was a stock I'd short him

For all the younger fans out there, Ainge was just as annoying as a player. Like a suped up TJ McConnell.

Why would that happen? He’s as fundamentally sound as any other current player, can score and pass as well as play off others. He has also just proven that he’s a winning player. I don’t get it.

To be fair Divo is playing against a summer league like Lakers in the first preseason game

He went from an easy job where all he does is talk about other people’s work and gets paid millions, to one of the toughest jobs in the sport, for a franchise that expects winning.

Be careful what you wish for…..

What successful career NBA coaches became head coaches without ever being an assistant or college coach after their NBA playing career?

Are there any?

Steve Kerr comes to mind, but he was handed the keys with a birthing dynasty to coach and the greatest shooter in NBA history entering his prime.

It just seems like a horrible recipe for success to jump straight into a head coaching job in the NBA that way.

Kerr is close, both were basically talking heads before becoming coach, but Kerr had FO experience and likely had a much better idea of what the job required day in and day out than Reddick.

Word is that coach K put those calls in to Pelinka for them to hire JJ. That's a big time endorsement. Will have to see how this plays out.

JJ seems to know x's and o's pretty well. But how is he as a manager of egos? I think thats the hardest part of being a nba head coach nowadays. Getting egos in line to follow your gameplan and let you lead as a coach is what makes a good coach. The x's and o's part I think is probably the easiest part of the job.

The one thing he has going for him is that Lebron picked him (in one way or another). So if he has the support of his best player, and that best player is Lebron, then he should have the team's attention.

With Hart as our 6th man... Smh.

That might be a worse trade to be honest.

What makes you say that? Or do you mean he's just going to suffer an injury that alters his career?

Bronny is the Second Coming of Frank Ntilikina!

Per Wiretap,
JJ Redick: Bronny James Can Become 'Really Disruptive Defender'
OCT 5, 2024 1:51 PM

JJ Redick praised Bronny James following the Los Angeles Lakers' 124-107 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in preseason.

"He's had some really good days in August and September. He's had three really good days this week. We're really happy with his progress," said Redick.

James finished the game with two points and three blocks in 16 minutes.

Redick added that James could find a role as a "disruptive defender" in the league.

"He can do some things defensively at his size that are really unique, and I think can turn into a really disruptive defender. That manifested itself. On the offensive end, he's still figuring out who he is," said Redick.

LeBron James, who sat out on Friday, is expected to suit up on Sunday.

Redick could be the second coming of Pop, there's no saving the Lakers from their decrepitude. The Lakers job is a setup for failure.

Bron is getting old. He's still good, but no longer elite. He did manage to force the Lakers to roster his mediocre son, so now a new coach has to manage the ego of aging stars in Bron and AD, PLUS manage the Bronny situation.

It'll be a mess all year.
