Shamet is athletic though, even in the NBA, he's just not THAT good at anything. He's a good shooter, but not a special shooter. His rookie year was his best 3PT shooting year.
He has good length, but he's combo guard sized without a PG handle and passing ability. He's skinnier and can't match up physically with other players. He can handle, but he's not special as a ball handler. He can get to the basket and finish athletically, but not good enough to get there consistently and not a special finisher. He has not real in between game, no floater, not a mid-range guy.
Knecth is a little taller, if he can play bigger and tougher, he should be able to be a better player. Shamet has managed to get 22 mpg over 5 seasons, and on winning teams. So being Shamet, but just a little better than Shamet can get a guy to be a good consistent rotation NBA player over many years.
Basically if he can be a better 3PT shooter and/or stronger and more physical on defense it would help him a lot. To be fair, Shamet has done well for a 26th pick.
I think Knecth has a more aggressive and stronger offensive game potential. I don't know about his defensive potential, don't know enough.
