Not that I'm saying he didn't deserve those DPOYs, but responding like this reeks of insecurity.

He's annoying af but the hate he gets for his game is unwarranted and honestly weird.

I don't think it reeks of insecurity.

Responding to a one off comment by someone in the media or to some casuals tweets is insecure.

The disrespect from the basketball community as a whole is large and wide ranging. Gobert obviously takes great pride in his defense and to have (what are likely) his greatest professional accomplishments questioned by the NBA community (players, media, fans) every single season has got to get to you.

Why would idiots like Josh Hart and Josh Smith need to come with facts. Apparently because they are/were mediocre players in the NBA their opinion is gold or something.

Rudy Gobert is right. And he’s also proof that defensively, this era has been absolute ass.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Sure I'll play:

2018: Anthony Davis (dude was robbed that year and not even close too)
2019: Giannis Antetokounmpo (close but I give the edge to Giannis that season.)
2021: Rudy Gobert (this one he actually fully deserved it)
2024: Anthony Davis (again. Lakers defense is literally nothing without him. They would have given up 130 points a game otherwise.)

He did say to come with receipts and you showed up without them.

Responding like this and giving the narrative airtime suggests there is a basis of truth behind it though (or enough truth that Gobert feels that he needs to try and discredit it). It would be less damaging to just not respond at all.

He was awarded 4 DPOYs, he doesn't need to try and justify that to anyone.

The CBA requires players to show up to the media and answer their questions, or else face fines or other NBA sanctions.

But in general, I think that is excellent advice. It works well in real life, and on this board.

He's right but I'm with Peanut here. You don't need to prove anything Rudy, you have the hardware. What people are saying means nothing when you have the accomplishments. All it shows me is that he's a big baby and his league reputation just makes more sense to me every time he opens his mouth.

He's not wrong and responding to a question regarding people doubting his awards isn't insecure. What is he supposed to say, "people can have their own opinion?" Numbers don't lie.

For some odd reason Gobert is always in the crosshairs, man is catching the flack and all the strays. I'd say it is high time he started clapping back a little. Why he attracts so much negative attention is weird to me, he isn't exactly an in the limelight sort of player.

We probably could come up with receipts, at least for one or two of them. But let's be real, who wants to spend that kind of time on Rudy Gobert?

I mean, it's also been MADE to be ass, to cater for the low attention-span casuals who just want to watch offensive highlight reels all day. And of course, offense pays more both in contracts, endorsements, street appeal, so a lot of players probably think that's the way to go anyway. Why work on D when I can practice my 3-ball? :dontknow:
