Actually it was probably 110-76. Im not too sure how they train the scorekeepers there, but they messed up in the first game that could have cost the Celtics that game before it was corrected. They missed a free throw the Celtics got in the 1st quarter and gave it to them minutes later. Drew Carter announces if Springer hits the free throw they go up by 30 in the 2nd half. He hits it - the scorekeeper said no and he didn't give it to him.
Whoever goes to Abu Dhabi next year might want to bring along a JV scorekeeper.

So Harper, Jr. and Skapintsev don't get any love, huh?

Chuck Walker not looking too good out there. I expected more from him. Nice to see the Maine guys clicking though.

Understandable that the ones struggling are the new guys (Walker, Baylor). Cs do run a system offense predicated on movement. Scheierman looks headed to Maine. Lonnie might join him there.

Yeah, Walker's gotta make the NBA Squad, too. He can't go on a Two-Way; too many years.
Does he suck? -- He might have to go on the Maine Squad, as a regular player (non-Two-Way).

Brown looked ultra-powerful in his photos over the past few weeks and that's translated on to the floor.

Hauser dribbles and drives, and stops and pops now instead of being 100% catch and shoot. He seems more confident too. Sam led the team in rebounds today.

Derrick White is a robodude, unrelentingly efficient and disruptive.

Apparently someone on the coaching staff suggested to Queta that fouling less would be a good thing. Big Portugal had zero fouls in 17 minutes.

Springer looked good. He didn't try to score much, but played that defense and might be a primo candidate for the vacated Oshae Brissett role.

There could be an NBA player in JD Davison. Maybe not in Boston, but somewhere.

130 points. That was a lot of offensive coherence for an early exhibition game.

Calvin Booth is a basketball criminal for putting that bench together around Nikola Jokic.

Celtics look ready to build on last year. Hauser driving close outs was particularly encouraging.

I like him, but so far all he has shown is iso play and missing shots. I was completely against G-League for him, but he hasn't had time to figure out the Celtics sets yet.

Maybe he'll get it down soon, but the guys with experience with the team -- Walsh, Davison, Peterson and to some extent Springer -- looked a lot more comfortable on the floor.

An argument that the team needs an extra rim protector can be made. I like Springer and Walker, but a case can be made that the roster spot can be better filled with a utility big with KP out.

And Walsh looked better with the regular team than he did in SL. If he can bring the energy and is willing to take those open 3's, he could get some RS minutes this year. He looked good out there with Tillman, Hauser, Springer and Pritchard, able to focus on using his length and defensive instincts with a couple of shooters and ball handlers on the floor with him.

I really want to see JD with our better players, guys who have the instincts on offense. I just think he’s going to be wasted and be in Europe next season. I just have a feeling that he has SOMETHING. If the other guys knew how to offend he would really shine but the guys he plays with know what to do, but don’t execute proficiently. His passing is so good imo but he’s not going to do much with the people he plays with. I know it’s preseason but I believe he’s playing harder and better on defense. He just needs a shot!

IMO he isn't worth $10 mil (including tax)
Leave it open and let the 2 way play (Peterson looks somewhat good, JD and Watson)

If Walsh could shoot he would probably get early season minutes, he has been good except for that. He looks like things are slowing more than last season. Another player that needs the good players around him. I know many players are better with the good players, what I mean is take a guy like Pritchard, he’s good without them. Some players have skills that work better with better players, right now that’s Walsh (JD), just do the other stuff and let the best players handle scoring.

Totally agree about Walsh. With Pritchard, you can put him out there with the bench, say, Horford, Tillman, Hauser and Springer and he's option 1a or 1b to take the shots. (In fact, I really liked him out there today with Springer and Hauser because it allowed Pritchard to play more off the ball and Springer made passes to PP and Hauser while Springer, Tillman and Walsh locked in on D.)

For Walsh, he's ok if he doesn't have too many things to focus on. Could he play 3 minutes with the starters in the third quarter if Joe wants to give Tatum some rest? I think he's capable enough. On offense, if he gets the ball, just keep it moving and get it back to Derrick or Jrue. If teams lag off Walsh, then he takes the open shot. And of course going in for those crowd-pleasing put-backs with his hops.

On defense, if he can bring 3 minutes of Inspector Gadget energy, making the right switches and trying to disrupt the passing lanes, getting his hands on loose balls and doing those come-from-behind-blocks, that's all that is needed.

The only thing is the shooting. But Brissett wasn't a shooter either, and he got occasional minutes and brought the energy. Walsh seems to be the obvious Brissett replacement, imo.

Yeah, I don't want to give up on Lonnie yet, but the numbers are the numbers. They didn't even showcase him this weekend, so it's hard to know what the agenda is. Lonnie can still sign with another team after the E10. Maybe Brad was just doing him a solid by bringing him in and will give him a good recommendation.

Brad Stevens is clearly comfortable with the depth the Celtics have at center (having resigned all of them this offseason) and it's not his MO to use assets for a quick fix. Horford/Tillman/Kornet/Queta is more than enough to hold down the fort until KP comes back. The Celtics have a few developmental guys at every position except center (hard to call Tillman and Queta that when they are 25 years old going into their 4th NBA season) so I expect the front office to look at adding one or two next summer probably during the draft. I would be shocked to see a move on that front before then (unless someone does something stupid at the deadline like giving away a Tillman level guy for a couple second rounders).

You make a good point here. I'm also ok with our center depth, but temporarily dealing with recency bias after seeing Jokic go for 20 in the first half. Queta looked lost at times, but the Joker does that to everybody.

I'm fine with going with what we have. If Kp's return is delayed for some reason, then there could be an in-season trade, but yeah you're right it would be uncharacteristic of Brad and Joe to throw someone into the mix when the team chemistry is already established.

Good thing we have the Celtics. If not for them, Boston sports would be a graveyard right now.

I think he's already good enough for another NBA team to have interest--and with another year, even if in Maine, that'll be more assured. And, he's just one starting backcourt injury away from taking PP's role after PP slides in with the starters.
