I'm gonna pay attention to Sallis alot this year. Good size and played under Few for a few years. I'd like to see if his shooting volume increases but his % doesn't take a hit.

I wanted him with our pick this year before he dropped out.

Last season I wanted the Celts to draft the Best Shooter Available (for an eventual Hauser trade), so I was keyed in to players like Baylor, Flip and Kolek.

This season, 100 Percent behind the Take The Best Big Available with their First and most likely the Wizards
Second Rounder. Or, acquire a young Big at the Deadline by trading these Picks and more.

Do we definitely have that 2nd rd pick from the Wiz? I know there are two other teams we can get it from, but I thought we lost that 2nd?

I'm interested in seeing Danny Wolf play in the Big 10 this year at Michigan. I watched the Auburn Yale 1st rd game because of Broome but I recently saw Wolf's name pop up on a prospect list and when I put two and two together I remembered he was the one wearing the face mask in the tourney. He actually played really well at the FIBA U20 in 23' against good teams. He's Scal's taller twin at first glance. He's no where near the 1st and 2nd rd on any mock right now. I'd like to see what he does playing in a big program against elite college talent.

Yeah, I like Wolf. Have him as a mid to late 2nd rounder right now but I heard through the grapevine that someone was at a Michigan practice recently and said he's a 1st round pick.

Certainly a guy to keep an eye on this season..

To my untrained eye…it looks like there will be some quality bigs in that range. Johni Broome perhaps. JT Toppin maybe.

Yeah I'm sure there will be some bigs in that range we could go for. And with Brad's strategy in the 2024 draft to go for older guys, Broome is certainly a guy to keep on the radar this season.

30. Boston Celtics

Kam Jones | 6-4 wing | 23 years old | Marquette

Jones is a polished scorer who enters the college season as a real candidate to make an All-America team. He has superb touch from all three levels, and he made 67 percent of his shots at the rim and 39 percent from 3 last season. He also showed some real potential at lead guard during Tyler Kolek’s late-season absence, averaging 4.5 assists per game during that six-game stretch. NBA scouts would love to see him be more consistent as a playmaker as well as a better defensive presence. That’s the big question. Who does Jones guard? Can he prove he can guard ones? Is he big enough to guard wings? Showcasing real improvement there will be the key to solidifying his stock. But he seems like a good candidate to be drafted this season.

Noa Essengue dropped 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in a preseason game against the Blazers yesterday and got his first call up with the French national team today. Not bad for a guy that turns 18 in december.

Likely we get the Wizards pick if it is the best pick of GSW, DET, DAl and WSH.

WAS will receive the less favorable of its 2025 2nd round pick and GSW's 2025 2nd round pick; BOS will receive the WAS pick, the GSW pick, DAL' 2025 2nd round pick if conveyable, or DET's 2025 2nd round pick protected for selections 56-59; DAL may receive, and WAS may receive an additional, one of the four (via DET to LAC to POR to DET; via DET's right to swap GSW for WAS (via BKN); via BOS's right to swap DET, GSW or WAS for DAL; via DET to WAS) [BKN-GSW, 7/7/2019; BKN-DET-LAC, 11/19/2020; BKN-IND-LAL-SAS-WAS, 8/6/2021; BKN-DET, 9/4/2021; LAC-POR, 2/4/2022; DET-POR, 7/6/2022; BOS-DET, 6/28/2023; BOS-DAL-SAS, 7/12/2023; DET-WAS, 1/14/2024]

A few sites don't have the C's receiving that pick. Thanks for the clarification.

Depending on how Brad see's the cap situation, that pick and the C's own 1st could give them a chance to move up a few spots if they have a particular target.

BUT-

Here is my looking way ahead "what if" situation. What if the C's go back to back. KP came back healthy and contributes to #19. IMO, you keep the whole band together for the dynasty label with a 3 peat. Do you use the C's 1st and that probably valuable Was 2nd and go make a splash with a team looking to clear some cap room? Get that 1 year star rental player? The chance to be the only franchise to win 3 in a row two different times is another notch on the belt. The player that I'm thinking about is Vucevic. I'm not a cap expert and don't know what else would have to be added. I'm just saying, for the chance to win 3 in a row by adding another star IMO overshadows getting younger through the draft at that moment.

I agree but the repeater tax is the issue. How long can they afford to keep the team together with a tax bill of 250 million dollars? Maybe they do that for a year but I can’t see multiple.

The Nets draft situation will be interesting to watch this season. Four 1st's with three of them coming from NY, Mil and Pho. Those teams could be all over the map this season. If Brad has a particular target that may land in the early 20's maybe a C's 1st and Was 2nd package can move them up. Den got the #22 for #28, #56 and future 2nd as an example.

I trust Calipari's eye test for PG's so I'll add Boogie to my watch list this season.

Hal14 wrote:Wow, this forum has come a long way..at least when it comes to draft discussion. I'm impressed!

In October 2022, I went ahead and started the thread for the 2023 NBA Draft on here and made a few posts about prospects, and got laughed at and ridiculed by 2 posters who are no longer on this forum for starting up the draft discussions so early.

Now look at us. We've got the draft thread cooking in mid July for the following year's draft, with plenty of discussion, from lots of different posters..and the thread wasn't even started by me :) and no one is mocking anyone for talking draft so early..

To add to the discussion..it's obviously very early so this list will likely look *way* different by the time we get closer to the draft..but this is my personal big board for next year..at least just the top 30..

Image

Karaban was discussed quite a bit for the 2024 draft but he returned to UConn. I have him ranked 31st at the moment.

Both Karaban and Toppin worked out for the C's ahead of the 2024 draft but both returned to college so both could be on the team's radar this season. And both could be in that late 1st/early 2nd round range..

I realize this is an old post, but if a UConn kid goes in the lotto, it’ll be Liam McNeeley. Abraham is at the end of a very deep bench. He won’t be going pro anytime soon. (I’d love to be proven wrong.)
