Making trades just to make fanbase happy doesnt seem like good longterm strategy.

When Orlando "pays" Suggs, there is no more "sign your target".

We can both agree that the Magic is never, ever going to let Suggs walk. So, and I am not advocating this, not even a little bit, a PG upgrade comes from a trade that involves Suggs. And does not involve a FA marker.

As much as i like Suggs i prefer KCP at 20M than Suggs at 30M, especially with the new CBA. Unless he turns into pick and roll maestro which is not that likely. I think thats why we didnt extend him yet. If we pay close to max, and then it turns out he cant run offense... and it turns out his shooting falls under 35%... then we overpaid him for 20-30 M. Not a good start to competing with Paolo and Franz and not easy to trade.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I tgink the Suggs trade for the right PG is a conversation to have but who is a realistic target.

Adding draft capital or a young player could help but the only guy thats even in the realm of possiblity is Garland.

And he would be expensive...

Honestly, no.

Eventually the lineup will he Black and Suggs in the backcourt, imo. That could come as early as two years from now, when KCP may not even pick up his player option for us. When Paolo’s full max is in effect, etc. the contracts do lineup pointing to that direction tbh.

Black will be primary ballhandler. Giving Suggs the luxury to play against smaller guys where he is good at. There is no way he should play the two. His shooting numbers against guys taller than him were pretty bad. That is quite evident comparing his numbers in Year 1 and 2 vs year 3.
