Same here. Tomorrow looks to be a good buying opportunity.

2 weeks ago there was a lot of panic selling. And some astute buying. There will be lots of bad days/weeks/months ahead. Lots. It's more of a challenge for retirees who are no longer putting money in. Especially once you hit RMD age. But otherwise just stay the course.

S&P, Dow, Russell, and NASDAQ all up roughly 10% since these posts on August 4th/5th

I just took some gains here.

Might be another dip tomorrow. Job numbers are going to be adjusted down by 1 million.

Looks like this data was already baked in. No market reaction so far. Same with the release of the Fed minutes a short time ago. And I imagine it will be the same when Powell speaks Friday at Jackson Hole, assuming he doesn't say anything unexpected.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I hope you all boycot crypto's. The only way to earn money with it is if someone else pays for it. It's nothing more then a piramid system which needs new people to step in to profit from it.

I think I'm done buying equities for now. Except in my 401k. Between that, my Roth and my taxable account, I'm good. My investable cash can keep earning ~5% and when that starts to go down soon we'll see.

Bought 1,000 shares of GEVO when it was like $1.30. Tanked badly, thought about buying more and didn't when it was down to $.48. Sitting at $1.74 now after a crazy run lately.

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I remember them and VTNR. VTNR just filed for bankruptcy.

FCEL is now 30 cents a share. I remember that used to be popular in here.

With how far the tech stocks have stretched the top of the market, I think the energy and basic material sectors are looking pretty attractive right now, especially with some of the valuations having dropped significantly since 2022.

I just put some cash into LAC, which I believe is a great buy and hold stock. Got in at their 52-week low of $2.02, the stock has been at $10.58 in the last year (around $2.71 today). LAC has exclusive rights to the Thacker Pass project (which admittedly, has been delayed), but it was the largest US federal investment ($2.26B) in a lithium mine ever, and if you think EV cars will bounce back, it's at a great price for buy and hold. I know they have at least one major car manufacturer contracted into the mine.

https://nevadacurrent.com/2024/03/15/lithium-americas-to-get-massive-federal-loan-to-develop-thacker-pass-mine/

I also like GEVO, as I mentioned above, but I'm not buying more until earnings which I believe are next month. If it dips, I likely buy more, because I do believe in their product and their leadership, but they are also a major long-term hold due to current financials and (lack of) profitability.

LAC up 20% to $3.20 after GM throws in additional $625M for Thacker Pass (around $3B total now).
