Being a traffic cone on defense, refusing to pass until 2 seconds were left on the shot clock, disappearing in the playoffs, temper tantrums, pouting, bipolar attitude, etc. all led to Randle's poor reputation among fans. He started out a fan favorite, but the day he was out of control and ready to fight IQ was the last straw for me.

I'll also add that, at least on this board, the relentless posts from a specific poster who regularly mocked everyone that Julius was here "permanently" and would NEVER be traded almost certainly added to the celebration once he was gone. IMO much of the Julius hate we saw here after the trade was geared more toward the poster than the player.

Understood he was a frustrating player. He could be erratic, dramatic, and enigmatic. He could also be emphatic, automatic, and acrobatic. He stunk against the Hawks but the Knicks also had no business being a 4th seed that year and suddenly the Knicks were a destination again. He would lag on D but he also completely changed his physique over a summer to put forth an all NBA season and the Knicks were once again known for conditioning.

I think better times are ahead but when he came here we were a laughing stock. Everyone else turned us down. Without Randle there might not have been a Brunson and there wouldn't be a Towns. He might just have been the hero we deserved.

I always defended Randle because I felt his talent and importance was vastly underappreciated by fans with too much uncalled for hate. Once Brunson got here we began to see what a real leader looks like on and off the court. Randle for all his talent did not have the mindset to be a Brunson type leader.

KAT has the benefit of having Brunson and a solid core already here so he wont have to go through what Randle did trying to carry the franchise all by himself. After a week since the trade its kind of a relief now that Julius is gone and I wont have to defend him constantly or worry if he will somehow meltdown in the playoffs.

Randle had scoring talent but he was a headcase and a playoff choker.

They named a court after him. That's enough "appreciation".

Bye Julius. Welcome home KAT!

what league?

are you waking up at 4am to root for some relegated team from Nice France?

tbh, ive wanted to get into euroleague but I could never do it. time management and all it just seems like too much work.

Mostly the european leagues, Serie A, Premier League are my favorites but all the countries have their own, there’s the Champions League, you have the national teams, the UEFA Nations League is on right now, you have the European Championships and the World Cup every 4 years alternating every 2 years and their qualifiers are always going on. Something is being played somewhere constantly

Since they’re around 6 hours ahead of us (eastern time at least) the games either come on reasonable times in the morning or afternoon here at the latest 3pm so if I’m home and not doing anything else I can throw one on. Doesn’t even interfere with basketball

Main thing that sucks about it is you can’t just buy one streaming service that has everything so it often takes crappy streams. But I’m used to it

I have an attention issue and I think the aspect of the sport I came to appreciate was that other than halftime there aren’t any commercial breaks and you can really just lock in and zone out for a good chunk of time

I can’t stand to watch nfl anymore because there are too many commercial breaks. I used to have to watch the red zone channel to watch it at all, because it was constant action. Or follow fantasy football or something to keep me engaged

NBA is the perfect amount of action and the breaks don’t kill me because I can come on here and BS during them

all those leagues are too much. too many leagues too much relagation too much player movement. all of it is too much. but the game itself is beautiful and fun to watch. and honestly I could probably get over all the leagues. but my main problem with it is picking a team. if I have no rooting interest whatsoever in a league it's hard to actually care about it. how am I suppose to care about a team from liverpool or a team named the hotspurs. it's just hard. I do get heavily involved when the world cup rolls in. but my rooting interest in that is usually rooting against teams.

so how did you pick a team. or do you just have a handful of players you root for - which would seam a strange in a game that heavily requires teamwork.

Depends on what streamers you have. The only streamers I had with soccer at the time was paramount plus. Which worked out nicely for me cuz they had the Italian league and champions league. Then I just picked the team from the city my great grandfather came from. I got lucky cuz Napoli won the league title the year I started watching. Made it a lot easier to get into the sport cuz they were awesome.
I'm apart of a Knicks podcast! You Should check it out!

From what I've seen on and off the court, Julius is a decent person who does not have the ability to lead others. He's a soldier, not a general, and being the main guy in NYC was not the best environment for a person with his temperament.

It is possible he will feel more at home in Minnesota and do very well there.

My vibe is KAT is going to mesh well with his teammates and it will be a harmonious roster with a bunch of professionals motivated to excel. In just the second game of pre-season we already saw a greater synchronicity between Brunson and KAT than we ever saw between him and Randle.

I do expect KAT will play more of a team-oriented brand of ball whereas Randle was more about taking turns on the court and getting his licks in. That worked to a large degree because Randle is a good interior scorer. But with KAT our offense is going to open up and bloom in ways it never would have with Randle.

KAT is an upgrade in every way, so it's all good regardless of whether any of us were big fans of Randle or not.

Yeah he was super unappreciated and got way too much hate for no reason. Without Randle, there would be no Brunson or KAT.

Hopefully KAT ends up being a big upgrade over Randle. That would be huge for us.

 Trying to use me as an excuse for you having awful basketball takes is hilarious. You and the rest of the Obi superfan club was super toxic and kept bashing Randle to prop up bum ass Obi. You even said we would regret trading Obi lmfao

Agendas, pettiness, and board wars >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything else

That has been the identity of the Knicks board over the past 4-5 years. You pioneered it, man.

You may not even realize it, but the inflammatory nature of your post is begging for a Randle-bashing retaliation....not because anyone "hates" Randle....but rather, just to bother you. Just like you still post anti-RJ rhetoric hoping to annoy anyone who supported RJ.

I like Randle. He just wasn’t the greatest basketball fit and we got a better player now, that’s all. I hope Minnesota comes out of the West and I wish them well.

Gallo v Chandler >>>

Then both factions went ape when both were traded for Melo.

Marbury wars were pretty intense too. I can only imagine the kerfuffle over McDyess.

It was bad when Curry couldn’t live up to the hype. At least I felt bad for him in a way.

The Clyde/Pearl microfiche wars were legendary. Predated by the Morse code Gallatin/Clifton wars.
