Who to play more??? If Boston doesn't keep both, who should go?

My short version is Springer has more upside but L Walker's skill set fits in better.

Think this may be the biggest decision facing Stevens/Mazz in their career..

Walker, easily. Springer is Semi Ojeleye levels bad on offense still

My favorite things so far this preseason:

1) Tatum's shot looks like it used to look. This is far and away the thing I worried about most coming into this year.

2) Jaylen looks like he might have a career year and bully everyone. Not just because of the muscle, but the added attitude that comes with a Finals MVP and a title.

3) Walsh looks like he's one year away. Not two. That's progress.

I see two seperate position battles here really. Walker vs Scheierman and Walsh vs Springer. Offensive and defensive bench wing. Based off last nights rotations it would seem Walker and Walsh have the advantage. If I had to guess, Walker was brought in due to the fact that Scheierman has been abysmal since being drafted. The guy was supposed to be NBA ready out of the gate and frankly right now, he does nothing at an NBA level.

I'm putting my chips on Springer getting first crack at it. He has a good enough handle to get into the paint and defensively he can take pressure off the other wings as the designated on-ball defender. Will come down to whether they can find an offensive role for him beyond standing on the perimeter.

Other than a 50 point victory, the thing I want to see the most is if Walsh can again make those open 3s.. I feel if he does that, he takes a definitive lead over the Group of Springer-Walker-Scheierman. And because of his length and versatility, I feel that would be most useful/helpful for Boston.

Assuming KQX have the KP and Horford minutes covered, the next chunks of minutes from last season that are up for grabs are Brissett's and Svi's. They were 10th and 11th in PT in the regular season with around 1,050 mins between the two of them. That's not nothing. Even if they increased PP and Sam's minutes, Jrue and White's minutes could go down. So it evens out. There are minutes to be had for Walsh and/or Springer (and Walker if he makes the team). Scheierman looks headed to Maine for the most part.

The Svi minutes were mostly end of game. The Brissett minutes though were often when the Celtics played shorthanded or needed an energy boost.

They could also go more double big, and that's been experimented with throughout the preseason. Tillman's ability to hit 3s could put KQX in contention for some of those Brissett stints, and in competition with Walsh/Springer/Walker.

It'll probably end up being a situational mix. This competition for 10th man floor time is one of the most interesting aspects of tonight's game and of the preseason.

.winning a handful of banners, riding out into the sunset, and setting up the next 30 years of celtics lore / culture is goal #1 for ownership. This town rode the coat tails of the bird era for quite a while, and we will do the same damn thing for this team it they can pull off more than 1. Without the 2008 chip to hold people over, I don't think you'd see this era at all so....it's business as usual.
