But yeah, same old defense.

Yeah, I think people have a bit of a distorted view of what a realistically solid defense looks like. They think "same old defense" anytime they give up a TD drive (even if it's on a short field as it was today) even though the best defenses give up points from time to time.

The turnovers are not sustainable, as history repeatedly shows. But this defense has been much better at limiting big plays and making smart reads. They've done a great job buttoning up Hurts/Richardson/Murray in the run game.

Overall a good win. Narvesson has already cost us and will probably cost us at least another win. Would have liked to see more out of the d line. Love and the offense were very good for the most part.

I mean you can't really just pin your ears back against Murray.

A fair point. They did a pretty respectable job of keeping Murray (and backs) from turning the corner. Some of their successes came from delayed passes to backs leaking through the middle

Not saying we shouldnt expect more from the pass rush, but they've played a lot of really mobile QB's to start the year.

One thing that makes this much harder, besides the obvious, is that division record is one of the first tiebreakers when teams haven't played head-to-head. Some inferior team in a much weaker division will probably win a tiebreaker over at least one North team based on a having a good division record, despite having a far worse expected record controlling for strength of schedule. North teams would probably have to win at least 75% non-division game; they're 16-4 now, but that's going to be hard to maintain.

The NFL has incredibly imbalanced schedules, and the more you scrutinize the implications for playoff berths and seeding and tiebreakers, the more you realize what an unfair advantage it is to play in a weak division. It just comes up over and over and over again.

Not a ton to say about this one. Love played great, the OL played well which allowed for a solid run game. The defense was really solid. We need a new kicker
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

It's interesting how they're playing their defensive backs:

Xavier McKinney S 58
Keisean Nixon CB 58
Javon Bullard S 54
Jaire Alexander CB 46
Evan Williams S 38
Eric Stokes CB 16
Corey Ballentine CB 1

Wow this evens kid is something. Also love Cooper.

And outstanding performance, not perfect, but I don't expect perfection, especially with a young team.

MLF is doing an awesome job of moving wrs around. I love sometimes he's tricking the D with 2 different options for wrs getting the ball or the rb.

He's very creative and every play it looks like Love has someone open to go to or a run play that creates just enough hesitation to allow a nice gain.

The oline is opening lanes, the TEs and WRs are involved in the run game as well and we have some great backs.

The D is a refreshing sight. I think people complaining about the D are just PTSD from a decade or so of crap D.

The D is very active in stripping constantly. It's contagious. It's not an accident. You see guys trying to rip out the ball as much as possible.

I would love a bit more pressure, I think I saw 1-2 Rashan pressures but need more from him.

And of course we can't afford a bad kicker. That's the only part of special teams that needs fixing (besides keeping Nixon on return duties and leaving Reed for offense only, he's too important to take extra hits on STs).

The power whining from the fanbase about the defense "because we only played junk offenses" sure seems to have subsided. The important thing is that, even when this unit hits rough patches (and they will), we're no longer scheme deficient/handicapped, and that's a credit to Hafley and the new coaching staff. It's a philosophy and mindset change that was sorely needed.
