Well some of us like following preseason games to refine our selections. If we went to 12 hours I would vote for moving the start date later to see more preseason action.

Then we should have a vote move the entire draft to until after the preseason, because in this case, by sheer lucky timing, some managers have an advantange over others. Which is probably impossible, so it should be moved to entirely before the preseason to even the odds again.

For some fun reading about people being frustrated in a draft, read this...I don't think most here who are involved in fantasy at all and were around have forgotten it...we had 3 levels of redraft leagues at the time and everyone was watching this one. jdiddy had never played fantasy.

Yeah if people are waiting the full 24 hours to make their pick simply to watch preseason games we'll just move the draft next year to after the preseason. The 24 hour clock is clearly (i.e. inarguably) meant for life/human reasons but making people wait when you are actually available to pick is quite frankly against the spirit of the rule and I can see how that can actually end up inconveniencing others.

I get if you are doing this you want all the information possible to make a good selection but at the same time I'd remind you of what that clock is actually meant for and your duty to your fellow managers to be as timely as possible (aka your basic social duty as a human).

I actually had that though before I went to sleep last night that some managers might be abusing the time. I don't think it's particularly many, if at all though. I guess the best way to put it is that we are an international league so we've got a nice 24 hour clock but you should try your best to be on time (and if you really can't, thats ok) like you would for anything social.

Maybe. I have never really used one. Maybe like a decade ago Kerrsed did one but no one really participated. But I suppose I'd do it. Just for the league to discuss trades and stuff?

I like discord just fine, but it seems like it would simply be replicating one thread on a forum and building a whole forum around that.... The added benefit being the live chat features I guess.

Yeah just for the dynasty league. We can also include the premier league. That makes more sense I think to help both leagues at the same time.

I think more people are on discord nowadays than 10 years ago - there's certainly a lot of people talking fantasy bball on Josh lloyds discord, and Im hearing more people using messaging apps like discord for dynasty/fantasy in general now. Seems like we can try it out.

Primary concern with discord is security so new people to discord should be sure to familiarize themselves with that kind of safety.

Yeah live messaging is the main benefit to discord for trade negotiations.
