I get it. Message is clear. Don't pay attention to the product on the ice or floor, just enjoy the socializing. The SkyDome is exactly that now. The outfield is just a club/bar environment, where you can look over at the game if you are bored with your conversation.

It’s all about who they squeeze more money out of and then attracting that kind of customer.
A) the hardcore that only leave their seat at halftime to take a piss or
B) the person there for the experience that will spend more than half the game on the concourse buying food drink and merch at absolutely stupid prices.

Load up on Bs and you make more $ per seat and all the other fancy shmancy “metrics”

As an A I don’t mind it as it doesn’t affect me.

raptors could definitely have that special stage lighting if they wanted to...they just decide not to. When they hosted the allstar game in 2016 they borrowed the stage lighting setup for that event.

Blows my mind a grown man is behind a comment like this.

Warned: Personal Attack/Baiting
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Good listen

Key points

-Mlse probably worth 12billion
-Rogers now one of the biggest Sports entity in the world if not the biggest
-bought Shaw for 20billion and are actively paying down a lot of debt
- They said something about private investors buy shares or buying into to MLSe to recoup some of the 4billion bell buyout, but they will not get a say on the board
-Bell was hemerging money and had to sell to pay down debt
-Ted Rogers was ahead of his time
-The main reason for doing this was b/c they felt owning the Bluejays wasn't being reflected in their stock prices and evaluation, now with majority ownership in MLSE, they feel like it will better reflect in Rogers evaluations

One word: Telus

Coverage just as good as Rogers/Bell but not as costly.

Yup, I switched to them.

I live in the Maritimes and switched to Public Mobile [which uses the Telus network] and it's every bit as good in urban and rural areas as Rogers and Bell had been for me, but only costs me $34/month for 50GB in both Canada and the USA. Definitely happy with it.

Me too. I'm Rogers/bell free as of the end of this week. Well not including the bell subsidiary I'm using for Internet now. You can never totally get away from these crooks since Canada is perfectly fine with monopolies.

I live in the country and use a small local ISP which has crappy connectivity (2-3mb down max). Bell knocked on my door last week and offered me 30mb downstream guaranteed at the same price, and tons of cable for 10 bucks more. I haven't had cable in a decade but I was tempted. HD Raps! Almost did it too. Then I thought to myself - am I actually unhappy with my measly 3 megs? Not really. Do i want to voluntarily sign back up with Bell? At that point the answer was clear - no freaking way. I hated being their customer. So I said no and will keep watching decent but sometimes choppy streams on my laptop. It ain't 4K but I'm happy with the peace of mind my choice is bringing me.

Tales from the canadian connectivity crypt...

I would love to have a reliable connection out in the boonies. As it stands, only Starlink works. Can’t get copper line even. Companies like xplornet have such limited offerings at such ridiculous price points. Can I ask what company you’re using and would you recommend it?

Generally speaking, what would it take to get a fiber optic line to a remote address?

Virtually zero chance you get fiber in the country anytime soon. Most country based ISPs are using ADSL (assuming a physical connection). Geographic distance to their hub is the determining factor for how much bandwidth they can put over a copper line. If I recall, you need to be within something like a 10km radius DSL hub in order to get internet over traditional phone lines.

You're not likely to get a fiber connection to the curb, as most country ISPs likely don't even have a fiber connection at their trunk.

Hopefully the food gets an upgrade. Scotiabank food is rotten compared to Jays games.

Pretty amazing that someone could get a half dozen things completely wrong in one broken sentence.

Once these renovations are done any chance we see a new scoreboard as well or is it too soon to replace the almost 10 year old scoreboard

Return to Toronto Raptors
