Re: PG: KNICKS slay The Wolves
I actually like that Rick checked Divo like that.
Worst-case scenario it was an overreaction but they can sort it out behind closed doors. Which is exactly what they'll do.
But it can't seem as though a role player in the NBA can just talk smack to the Knicks head coach like they're on the same level without facing any response.
Divo's gone and the Knicks have to worry about their team and coaching staff now. I'm sure they all understand Divo's hurt but the NBA season's about to start so it's no time to be sentimental. And Rick was probably the best person to address that situation.

Why would Donte say this is what happens when they let you run things to Rick though? Rick isn't running shyt? This makes zero sense now.
Probably something going on behind closed doors. No reason to throw your best friend's father under the bus instead of Thibs.Wait wtf I did not know his 3rd year was not guaranteed!!?!?!?!?Wildcat wrote:Jay10 wrote:
I think Hartenstein messed up by going to OKC, because if you look at it the Knicks were going to give him the full amount ($72.5M) they could give him. His contract with OKC ($87M) is only guaranteed for 2 years, and the 3rd year is a team option.
I've been saying for months that guarantee 4 years is better than guarantee 2. Him accepting that offer told me he didn't really want to be here long term. Which is fine, do what you will, but sugar coating it -- in hindsight -- pisses me off.

Yep. 3rd year is a team option. With Chet extension looming, and knowing how OKC runs their front office, I don't see them picking up that 3rd year.

Open and shut case. Let's move on.
No it's not why would Divo say "That's what happens when they let you run the show" if they was talking about finishing at the rim? And why would Rick Brunson confront Divo for saying that if that's what he said?
They trying to play it down but Divo did say "thanks for the trade" and Blecher Report confirmed it with Divo saying "I wear my heart on my sleeve" and that he would talk to Rick Brunson later.

Re: PG: KNICKS slay The Wolves
There's Donte running back after he made the 2nd FT, there's Thibs standing in his usual spot, not on the bench where Donte directed his comments to....but who is sitting in the middle of the assistant coach line that appears to be the direction where it did go to? Rick...hmmmm

You think Rick looked at Payne and said, "Talk **** now and see what happens."

Great point. Thibs can't acknowledge it and the players have personal ties. Apple didn't fall far from the tree in terms of leadership.

It seems to me Donte going at Thibs tonight wasn't about the Minnesota trade, but more to do with the trade for Mikal with the Nets.

Donte acting like a baby, don’t go at your best friend’s Dad,
If its anyone he should be mad at, its Leon
Stop being a baby, we traded you to a contender
Stop burning bridges too, because once that contract is up, the opportunity to return to the garden might not be there

Re: PG: KNICKS slay The Wolves
If you watch the videos, he's clearly yelling at Thibs initially when he says "I can't finish right Thibs?" Then you will notice that he turns his head slightly towards the actual bench or Rick Brunson and says "That's what happens when they let you run the show". It kind of sounds like after Donte says something to Thibs, Rick might have said something back to Donte and that's when Donte said what he said back.
