Dick Barnett - Another Knick in the Basketball Hall of Fame

Post#1 » by Chanel Bomber » Mon Oct 14, 2024 9:15 pm

A two-time champion and one-time All-Star with the legendary 1970s Knicks, a franchise for which he played 9 seasons.

Averaged 18.6, 2.3, 4.3 in the 1970 Finals against Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain's Lakers.

Congratulations.

The honors continue to mount for Dr. Barnett. This is the big one. Loved that jack knife lefty jump shot from the baseline.

Dick had a fall away jump shot and would kick his lower legs back, like a Jack knife. There should be video out there.

When he went up to shoot his jumper he'd say it to his teammates. Meaning, get back on D, this sucker's going in.

Dick was such a unique personality and character. There are many great anecdotes about him in two books I read years ago, and still have. Miracle on 33rd Street by Phil Berger, and Life on the Run by Bill Bradley.

There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.
