Re: 2024 49ers Season
Mason diagnosed with sprained AC shoulder joint considered "not serious."
Dang Mason has 37 more yards than Derrick Henry, who hasn't played week 6 yet while Mason only played a half in the week 6 game.
Hopefully he gets better in 10 days.

Practice window opened for Pearsall. Great news. Hopefully he can contribute something this year.

Re: 2024 49ers Season
Great to see the kid make a full comeback after that very scary ordeal.
Still got a few other reinforcements that will hopefully be on the way soon. CMC, Greenlaw, Feliciano, Hufanga, and Gross Matos.
Dang, after typing that list out and with Pearsall and Kalia Davis factored in, SF is already looking rather thin with IR return designations. If all of the above get activated, that only leaves 1 additional return designation. Damn, we are only in week 7.
Although I believe Pearsall was on NFI, so maybe he won't count as an IR return designation. That would be great, if he didn't.
They sure as hell better not burn a designation on Ambry freakin Thomas.
Also, worth noting that if/when Greenlaw gets back its probably going to awhile until he gets back to playing up to his normal caliber.

I'm not really sure how Kyle is going to get Pearsall involved much but hopefully he can take the Conley/Bell snaps away and show some promise in the film even if the stats aren't there

Re: 2024 49ers Season
You know I was critical of the 3rd down FB screen in the red zone but I will say when you see JTO go over it the play actually would've been a TD if Banks blocks his guy correctly.

Re: 2024 49ers Season
Updates have been pretty quite on him but I'm glad to see he's back as I hope he'll push Brendal for the starting C spot.
Also curious on if that Burford experiment at RT is still a thing. McKivitz has been solid lately so maybe they've cooled off on it but with Feliciano back it does bury Burford on the depth chart if Brendal remains in the starting lineup.

I can see them putting him in some packages where they take Juice off and put him in instead.
Can also see plays where Deebo is in the backfield and Pearsall is the 3rd WR as well.
I do think the team needs to adjust somewhere because I've seen too many plays where Purdy has nowhere to go with the ball. Get Juice off the field more and get another WR like Pearsall in there to put more pressure on secondaries.

He practiced today in a blue non contact jersey which probably means he's on pace to play Sunday. I'm sure if it wasn't for the mini bye this week his status would be iffy.
That will be huge if we want to win on Sunday because TOP thus running the ball is going to be needed if we want to win.
Though I did think Gurendo was starting to get a better feel for running the ball the more touches he got so that does give me some hope that he could be a viable option going forward because they need someone that can spell Mason because I don't see him sustaining the pace in terms of touches so far this year. I'm guessing they don't mind the heavy workload because they are optimistic on CMC returning sometime this season so his touches will go down if that happens.

Been saying for awhile now, that they should take Juice off the field more often. Especially in the redzone.
Having Juice out there in a condensed field (redzone) is putting the offense at a disadvantage on almost all passing plays. Having at most 3 guys running routes does not put enough stress on the defense, especially when they don't have much field to cover. It encourages double teams on the better receivers, which further amplifies one of the receiving corps' weakness of not being able to beat man coverage, double team makes it so much harder. The WR's (and Kittle) are not great at being able to shake coverage on a quick hitting play, as red zone plays tend to be. Having a 4th receiver out there puts a lot more stress on the defense and gives them more things to worry about. It also increases the odds that somebody is going to open up.
I know Juice can he a good receiver out of the backfield. However, his routes are so slow to develop, if he even has a designed route to run and not just be a checkdown option. As mentioned earlier, redzone plays tend to be quick hitting so Juice's ability as a receiver in the redzone will rarely become a factor. Unless you want to call a designed play for him, like the FB screen we saw last week. Which predictably failed.

I agree as a general proposition. Juice can be effective, but I think we would put more strain on a defense with another WR who can get open quickly, whether that's Cowing or Pearsall.

We signed Adrian Amos to the practice squad for safety depth. Wonder if Mustapha won't be playing Sunday

Would like to know if Pearsall is suiting up this weekend
Jennings didn't practice with a hip injury from the Seattle game so would be nice to have the depth

We have got to give Cowing some looks in this one. We absolutely cannot go into this one with Aiyuk, Deebo, and Bell as our three-WR set. We need a guy who can beat man coverage quickly or Spags will just blitz the heck out of us, roll the safety to Aiyuk, and man-up Deebo.
Maybe the biggest question in this one is if Kyle can come up with an answer for their defensive approach. Their LBs and DBs are not as strong this year as they were last year. Absolutely must take advantage of that if we want to win this one. Though I don't have much faith in this team coming through in the 4th quarter.

reporters seem to think Pearsall won't be activated this quickly. Might be getting a lot of Conley/Bell this Sunday

Re: 2024 49ers Season
Presumably Jennings was drawing some coverage based on his early season production.
Because Aiyuk and Kittles have seen more targets in the last couple of games.
One thing I haven't seen a lot so far are bubble and other WR screens.
Also, Greg Cosell noted that this is different than previous Shanahan offenses because Purdy has been in shotgun 80% of snaps and the team isn't doing nearly as much play-action compared to other seasons.
So it's been more of a drop back passing offense rather than play action/shot offense.

Wonder if we will get a heavier dose of play action when CMC returns. A big part of our previous success was a fake to CMC because he draws multiple defenders, leaving more room for others to operate.

Some talk that Pearsall could be activated for this game. That would be pretty big if Jennings is out.

Re: 2024 49ers Season
I would like to see them activate Evan Anderson to the active roster. We are pretty short on DTs, with Hargrave out and Elliott and Collins banged up. Anderson hasn't played a ton, but he's been really good when he has to date. Why take the chance of losing him to hold onto Brayden Willis, Matthew Wright (who we signed off the street and won't even be kicking for us this week), or Ronnie Bell (granted that spot has got to be earmarked for Pearsall)? I would be really irritated if we lost him to another team.

Re: 2024 49ers Season
Jennings is out which sucks but..... Pearsall will be activated!
Wright is off to the IR so now we are stuck with Carlson (Packers throwaway)
Jordan Mason is cleared to play as well
