If Edey was shooting 35% from the field and 23% from 3, I am sure you would not be here glowing about him.

Where are all the Edey fans thumping their chest? Edey just put up 15, 8 & 4 with 0 turnovers.
Oh wait, it's just you projecting and adding nothing but incoherence to the discussion.

Big J wrote:The issue was never his low post offense. It's that he can't shoot 3's and he won't be able to stay on the floor in the playoffs like Kanter.

Except teams unable to deploy proper defense will struggle to stop Edey, which combats 3>2 math.
That's sort of the other side of the coin you fail to present as possible. Teams "going small" to spread Edey out are going to be giving up highly efficient offense AND rebounding to Edey.
Sure, he could be like Kanter, but Edey has already shown an ability to move laterally better than Kanter ever did. Edey also appears longer/taller than Kanter.

It’s easier to double a low post guy who can’t pass than a guard who has a center isolated on him on the perimeter.

Have you guys actually seen him play or are you just basing your opinion on your subjective prejudice that a 7'4 big guy can not be good on defense? Just comparing him to a 6'9 Kanter who was half a foot smaller and still slower, with the worst defensive instincts of all time disqualifies you from any sort of serious discussion. How many more times do you want to embarrass yourself?
Somebody please go through this thread and expose all the self proclaimed draft experts. The most obvious thing in the world happened: A skilled 7'4 guy who dominated college for 4 years is good at Basketball. Who would have thought. Not the experts apparently

Double the 4th option on the floor? That is already a win
"History will likely show that where he was chosen in the draft was low," Carlisle said. "He's gonna have impact. He was drafted by an organization that believes in size and they believe in what he accomplished. Two-time national player of the year is a big deal. It's rare that that can even happen in today's world of college basketball. I have great respect for what he accomplished at Purdue and a lot of respect for what he did tonight because he put a will and a physicality into the game that we simply did not match."
