Interesting convo between Chauncey, VC and TMac at the end of this clip. I'm probably in the minority but being a die-hard fan since Day 1 and I was 18 years old at the time, I really hoped Chauncey was going to be our PG of the future. My first "idol" was Damon and was heartbroken when he got traded, but the haul we got back that ended up being Chauncey, Awill, Trent, John Wallance, John Thomas, Dee Brown, etc. Chauncey's half season with us was not that great (inefficient) but showed flashes and had potential star-power. I didn't see that in Awill at the beginning. Raptors even had a big banner outside of Chauncey like he was the future that season.

I looked back at basketball reference and wow, I didn't remember that he was actually traded during training camp of that lockout shortened season so he would have started practising (or at least planning stages) with VC and TMac. What could have been? I know we got a 5th pick for Chauncey which we turned into AD (also a bad trade, no we wouldnt have drafted Bender but maybe someone else?). The Oak and AD trades really wasn't necessary back then for a rebuilding team, especially since GG also got Willis, Muggsy, Dee Brown, etc as vets. No GM would ever make trades like that again to surround 2 young stars with really old vets.

Don't care about the disgruntled fans are the puckhead media Vince retiring as a Raptor and coming back home feels right. This man was electrifying and made me a basketball fan.

The Raptors now own the Bills basically?

The wild timeline where Vince and Tracy somehow bring the Bills to Toronto would be absolute scenes

Chauncy, Vince and T-Mac would have been lethal and might have won 1-2 championships.

Vince was never a good leader and Chauncy would have fit that role perfectly as the leader/floor general.

Yeah I always said it made absolutely zero sense that a young franchise that's building from scratch traded some of it's
elite prospects in Billups and Camby for old vets in their mid 30's in Davis and Oakley. The crazier part is people on this
board for YEARS defended these moves even though all we won was one playoff series  I think Jack Armstrong
still defends this logic/moves and a few old board regulars.
