this is by far the most fascinating rookie class of the 2020s.

I get shades of the 2020 class where no one really knew what to make of it and yet two guys that can be faces of the league emerged.

I get a similar vibe here. Risascher, has there been a more mysterious #1 selection in the last decade? Alex Sarr has the potential to be a Rudy Gobert type defensive guy. Reed Sheppard has a Steph Curry type potential.

Then the mid first round to late lottery, just so many interesting guys. Castle, Dillingham, Holland, Edey, Carter, Carrington.

McCarran and Knecht could be steals of the draft. A guy like Filipkowski too.

Think Castle will be the best player in the class. I just don’t know if Pop will put him position to win ROTY

Zach Edey is a stud. His ability to track the smaller guards and wings and protect the rim/interior is impressive. I think he will be the rookie of the year and will be a top 5 center in the league after embiid jokic wemby and kat.

No not this season.

I forgot about AD. So top 6. I consider Chet a 4. I do think he will be more impactful than Sengun Sabonis and Bam but only time will tell.

All the draft "experts" in shambles.

The skilled 7'4 guy who dominated College Basketball for 4 years is good at Basketball. Who woulda thought

Edey looks huge. Also seems to be way more mobile than he was in college. Grizz could be a scary.

Edey will probably be unanimous rookie of the year, he's going to have the minutes, impact and numbers.

That has only ever happened 7 times in NBA history so I really doubt Edey is going to be the 8th. He has good odds but unanimous? Don't know about that

Most of his competition will be coming off the bench, the favorite was Sheppard but he's going to be coming off the bench for FVV.

The only guys that will have the minutes vs him will be Sarr and Risacher and I don't think their numbers will be close. Edey will have wins, numbers and impact in his favor, just think about how Chet was in the mix last year until around the midway point then Victor walked away, now apply that same winning, numbers and impact to Edey except there's just nobody else that will have the minutes/wins.

You may be right but I'm not ready to anoint him ROY just because he's beating up on some scrubs in meaningless preseason games. Once the real season begins we'll see how he fares when teams are gameplanning for him and putting him in PnR constantly.

Question

I don't watch college basketball so during the draft I lisen to analyst saying Edey was late second round pick.

How come they were so wrong??I understand he will have issues on defense but the dude is definitely a starter on the NBA just with his sizes and rebounding.

I need to see extended tape on defense first, but sure... he can score. So, could Boban.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Edey is Boban, I'm just not yet convinced he can fit into an NBA defense in a game where teams are trying to win.

Salaun with 13 points and 8 rebonds

Pacome Dadiet with 16 points... in a quarter.

Nobody was saying he was a late second. He was mocked in 20s by some, but late lotto by many including the Ringer and the Athletic.
