Not in the first game of the season it doesn't, by season's end so much can change that the first game is a faint memory.

it can also be a statement game that sends the message that we mean business this year. there's no way the guys don't get up to play the defending champs

It matters in a close race for playoff seeding. Home court advantage etc. It's not meaningless. It doesn't matter as to how good the team may become during the season but, all wins and losses count.

I didn't say meaningless, don't twist my words, it just doesn't mean as much as fans think it does but ok overreact to one game if you want.

I'm not going to either way win or lose, it's only one game, the first of the season with a newly formed starting group playing against a well established unit.

KP isn't even going to be playing so again, it's not as important as some will think it is.

KP not even playing...overreacting is par for the course with some fans, not this one though.

The past two season have been some of the best seasons the Knicks have had in two decades and they lost the first game of the season in both of them, once to Boston...it's just one game.

You said it doesn't mean a lot. By seasons end it could be the difference between home court advantage. That's a lot. Every game counts. That's all. No one twisted your words at all.

Remember this? Don't be this because of one game...
Image
Started off winning the first game against Boston
Image
Coming off a playoff appearance, this is a sign they are ready for the next step...finished the season 37-45

Don't set it up to be more than it is, I'm just trying to save you from yourselves

Don't do it

Our 5 starters are all in the top 62 players in the NBA.

The only team with a better standing in the top 62 is the Celtics.

The talent is there. Now let's see about fit and chemistry and... hunger. :D

i'm not tryna twist your words  just saying that thibs is almost certainly gonna have this team playing like it means something because 1. it's real regular season 2. the defending champs 3. specifically the team our big offseason trades were meant to counter. of course game 1 doesn't forecast the entire 82 game season, but the teams playing will compete hard and it may set the tone for our new starting lineup for better or worse. as a fan i'm happy to find any reason to be invested in the storyline

Very smart to give the guys a rest after a battle vs Minny just 48 hours ago. Havw one more game Friday to dress rehearsal for next Tuesday.

Long season ahead...
