I've stood next to him. Isaac is every bit of 7'. So is Vuc. Gordon is a (relative) shrimp...Hezonja was clearly taller standing next to him.

So that’s 2 starters now calling Black a PG?

Are we sure KCP has enough experience to trust his opinion?

It sounds like AB is really impressing in practice. The way Franz, KCP and Jalen talked about him in the last couple days, they seemed to really light up when talking about him.

"Anthony Black is not a point guard" is not going to age well.

There is no mystery. We have official data from the season when the NBA measured all players without shoes. Isaac is 6'10'75 barefoot, half a inch taller than Vuc. In shoes he is a normal 7 footer. All those historical & current 7 ft flat guys where/are 6'10-6'11 barefoot or shorter like Hakeem.

Always funny when European players play against north American players who have same official height. Luka looks much bigger. Jokic looks taller than all us players his height. Mario towering over AG or Wemby dwarfing Edey in the U19 worldcup because European heights are barefoot.

It's more of marketing as well, all players have boosted numbers, especially their "bodyfat". With straight face claiming player has 5% bodyfat (for example, bodybuilders show up at shows at 5% on steroid compounds, with severe dehydration and in serious catabolic state, person without steroids & knowledge would never, without starvation drop so low in BF%, and if he/she did, in female's case she would lost period and had massive hormonal problems, and male would be in no shape to do everyday funcion, let alone play sport, oh and boner would be gonner because your HG level would be at level of 95 years old grandpa) .
Nobody wants to hear how 6'7 -260 chubby white guy is second best player in the world. It sounds much better if you sell him as 6'8- 240. Sounds way more "Geek god like".

I have few friends who used to hang out with Bojan Bogdanovic, he is exactly 198 cm tall. That's not even 6'6.
But in nba he is 6'8

Image

This would be "shoe" that would make him 6'8

Jokic in 2020 showed up in Serbia weighting 129 kg ( 285 pounds) according to serbian news.
Fattest Jokic was ever for sure, according to Serbian media is 136 kg ( 300 pounds).

Really wouldn't help NBA case to have "best player in the world" being 6'10- 300 pounds.

Just to play with BMI with 300 pounds/211 cm, best basketball player in the world would be at verge of obisity

Let's map this:

..

to "5%" - i.e. sick.

..

Dončić is about 20% body fat.

It would be a mistake for an NBA player to go much below 10% body fat. Look at the 8-10 photo as an example. The reality is that the fat at 10% improves durability and endurance. Both matter a lot in contact-related sports, which basketball at the NBA level certainly is. Most NBA players will be at about 15%.

Vast majority of people who are somewhat athletic and below 10-12% bodyfat are on steroids.
Once you fell below 8% your natural hormone levels are crushing to a point where it impacts your everyday activity, let alone performance.
Only ouliners to this rule are sports that require endurance such is cycling , marathon running, triathlon etc.

For example 2020 Olympic marathon winner is 5'6, 115 pounds.
Funfact: 1996 Olympic marathon winner weighted below 100 pounds

Josia Thugwane was 5'2" 99lbs. for that run.

One thing interesting for me about marathon runners and their weight, even the weight of the food they eat effects the distance they can run. That is the eat exactly the amount of calories required to run 26.2 miles, and not a step further. This is why sometimes the marathon runners "battery" runs out 50-100 meters before the finish line; not enough calories were consumed.

p.s. when Paula Radcliffe was elite, I calculated that she ran her marathon pace faster than I can sprint full out. That's wild!
(she AVERAGED about 11.2 mph over a whole marathon, which is a 20 second split of a 100 meter dash. That's insane!)

EDIT: a reporter once asked Usain Bolt how fast he can run a mile. Answer: he has no idea as he never ran that far. :o )
