Paolo is better than anyone on the Knicks. True or false?

We should have drafted Scottie Barnes? His 3pt shot has arrived?

False ofc, Brunson was 5th in MVP voting last year and made all nba second team, was 5th in scoring and led that team through first round all the way to game 7 of second round. By the time they entered playoffs Knicks already lost Randle and Mitch Rob. In middle of playoffs they lost OG and Bojan Bogdanovic, and still almost made it to Conference Finals with pretty much skeleton crew led by Brunson.

I personally like Towns more than other people on forum do. I believe that in right system where he doesn't have to sacrifice whole offense to play stonehands Gobert near him, he can be 25-10-3 guy without much problems on crazy efficiency. He did it in past. East is much easier to play on, competition is simply worst. Does that make him better than Paolo ? Who knows. But we will find out.
But people sleep over fact he is career 23-11-3 guy on 62% TS and probably one of top 3 best shooting bigs ever. His existence alone will open game for Brunson way more than Randle ever could.
Will be interesting to see what can Thib get from Towns on defense, Towns entered nba as some elite defensive big, but that part of his game drifted.

Brunson is worlds better than last year's Paolo. Knicks where good last year because of Brunson, we were good because of our defense & bench. Big difference.

Brunson last year was probably top 10 player in nba. Really can't take him out of top 13-ish.

He was taken 4th and we picked 5th.
Last year he started strong and then his shot failed him. I also dont like his attitude.

If you use last season's stats... then false. JB was better than Paolo. This season, if JB puts 1 step forward while PB puts in 2, then that could be true. We will see.. thats why we have an 82 game season to find out.

I'm taking Hornets, if they stay healthy, as team to make biggest W jump.
Could see them going from 21 to some 38-ish wins. Very talented team. Star PG, star SF.

I agree, they are lacking scorers out of their starting lineup, but their starters will be fun. Green was a stealthy get for them & Ball is going to make it easy for them to score.

It looks like the Bulls, Hornets, and Hawks are the play-in hopefuls. Could all be better than the market is predicting.

Bringing this here as I love the perspective.

ESPN BPI is really fascinating. Here are tiers based on the model. Comparing this to the betting market, BPI is really low on the Knicks and relatively high on the Heat.

Elite Championship Contenders
Celtics, 76ers, Thunder, Mavs

Strong Playoff Contenders
Cavs, Wolves, Nuggets, Bucks, Heat, Grizzlies

Mid-Tier and Play-In Teams
Suns, Lakers, Kings, Pelicans, Clippers, Pacers, Rockets, Knicks, Warriors, Magic, Bulls, Hornets, Hawks

Rebuild and Lottery-Bound Teams
Nets, Raptors, Blazers, Jazz, Spurs, Pistons, Wizards

Brunson is definitely better...easy to dismiss him (without watching) based on size, etc but he's a physical bully and tremendous leader. I wouldn't trade Paolo for anyone on the Knicks.

Having said that...there may be 20+ guys that are "better" than Paolo today, but only a handful that I would trade Paolo for (based on age & upside, without even considering contracts).

Agree...if, by some miracle, Mark Williams is healthy (he's their Isaac/X-factor), they suddenly have the ideal trio of Scoring PG, Scoring big wing, and agile big Center...along with a not awful cast of role players like Grant Williams, Miles Bridges, Josh Green, Tre Mann, Seth Curry and some high-upside wildcards like the french kid they drafted and Nick Smith...

Could be a fun to watch team that you can't take lightly.

That's a wide net the Magic are in.
Not really buying the HEAT as a strong Playoff contender as currently constructed.
Butler hasn't played more than 64 games since 2016 and he's now 35.
Herro & Rozier are not scarry as a backcourt. They have wonderful accessory pieces, but Nah on that team.

On other hand...Wizards... oh boy. Most unwatchable team in probably decade, at least to me. Filled with chuckers who are interested in basketball if they hold ball, zero BBIQ, traded Avdija because who needs team -first players
