Re: Miami Heat Preseason Thread 2024
The change in philosophy in offense and seeing Spo adapting the 5-out offense is truly breath of fresh air.
Everyone seems enjoying the free flow instead of the 20 seconds shot clock just for a two point DHO. Spo should've adjusted two seasons ago with this build.
This is also to preserve our player's health by toning down the bully ball and just spam 3s just like what everybody is doing in the league.

Re: Miami Heat Preseason Thread 2024
Looks like Herro might have his best year with the Heat.
I was always against trading him away, when his value around the league is low.
He works hard and is still very young, came in shape and with the right mindset this year, hope he does not get unlucky with injuries again. Even if the team does not succeed he might raise his value by a lot and then a trade conversation would be more reasonable.
The most positive thing to get excited about is probably the Bam 3p shooting, if he can average 5 attempts per game and score them at good efficiency (even smth. like 35% is good enough), it will make a big difference.

We always look our best in these high assist games....we always look better with the ball moving....
We might get a really entertaining year this season.

The reality is that 5-out is hard to actually do because there are very few bigs that actually provide value by playing on the perimeter. With Bam's progression and Ware's potential, Miami might just have a full frontcourt rotation that can all effectively play 5-out. Very exciting structural change for this team.
Maybe our guards will even start converting at the rim at something better than the league worst rates of last season

Re: Miami Heat Preseason Thread 2024
A lot of people jumping on the Tyler Herro train. I really hope this time is different but.....
The Tyler Herro cycle has typically gone as follows
Offseason: Hyped up body transformation comes into camp 10-15 pounds heavier, looks quick, and plays well through the first few weeks of the season. People start to talk about how he has turned the corner, the all star conversation begins.
In Season: Herro inevitably gets hurt and misses significant time, loses all his offseason progress. Team does decent in his absence, defense improves, ball moves better. Herro comes back from injury, has a huge issue being reintegrated into the rotation, and it leads to clunky play for the entire team.
End of Season: Herro gets hunted in key defensive matchups, and shows inconsistent shot making ability. Fans start demanding he be traded, saying they won't fall for the hype again.
The Cycle Continues.
Herro needs to show me a full year before I buy into him again. I like Tyler I want him to work here, and be what he is capable of, I am just not sure it's going to happen, and I am not getting my hopes up again.

Herro will always be a convenient scapegoat for some. Unfortunately injuries are just part of the sport, for some more than others. As long as he's following regiments that the team has in place I'm not sure what else we can realistically expect. You guys are better than me though, I don't have it in me to sit through all of these preseason games but the early feedback on offensive changes sound very encouraging.

Rinse and repeat, he usually starts the year off strong too so we’ll see if he can actually keep it up this year or fade away as the year goes on. He will more than likely experience a few minor lower body injuries that’ll keep him out 15 or so games, he’s injury prone when it comes to lower body stuff for whatever reason

I'm a sucker. Im seeing shades of the dramatic 5out Bosh back from playoff injury transformation. Spo has gone mad scientist before.

That summer league unit is something to think about. They may want to keep that together. If the Heat want to play a high attacking pace that summer league unit may have the young legs and athleticism to help sustain the high pace through out the season

I really think this year's team is better than last year's team. Time will tell.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

2nd unit has for sure played alot slower than the staters these warm up games.
I. Stevens might have something. He has do be in some internal debate replacing Smith. The Summer Champ unit looked horrendously slow and indecisive w Pullin.
