In 14 and 19 minutes respectively. Had elite efficiency as freshman and sophomore as well. Just not the playing time. But the minutes he was on the court, he was dominating

I've been chuckling at all the "worst draft ever" for the last year +

No, Wemby, no Paolo, no Chet so bad draft. We've been spoiled the last few years by big stars at the top. This is a very nice draft

Edey was my top want but when Hawks landed #1 it was Sarr or Ris and towards the end, went with Ris. Very happy to have him

Zach Edey and Reed Shephard look solid in the preason but their teams are trying to win/make the playoff, so they wont have much of a chance to learn on the court compare to other rookies in lottery teams
So my vote for ROY goes to Castle

I agree here w/ Reed (Albeit he will get plenty of run as a bench guy) - but Zach is for sure going to start for MEM and play big minutes.

Pops historically doesnt play rookies a ton outside some special exceptions. I would be surprised if Castle played enough and got enough usage to compete w/ Edey for ROY.

Think Zach is clear cut favorite - big minutes and (likely) efficient play on a team likely to be in the PO's.

Castle looks special to me already. He has an innate feel for the game and plays with a calmness that is very surprising for a 19 year old. He also seems very adept at getting into the lane and drawing fouls. Heck he might already be the best player on our team at drawing fouls. His PG instincts seem to be there also. And his defense has been a breath of fresh air. Still has a long way to go but wouldn't surprise me if he is regarded as the best player from this draft in 5 years. Very doubtful he is in ROY discussions though because he won't play enough if the preseason is any indicator of how minutes will be distributed in the RS. Then again, Paul and Vassell are injury prone so opportunity may present itself and I have no doubts he will be ready.

If his shot improves, game over. Kid's a baller.

Castle is already part of the top 10 unit, getting early minutes off the bench, bumping ahead of guards who've been with us a couple of years. Don't be surprised to see him playing the 1, 2, or 3. And as bornstellar said, you never know when more minutes will open up. All our lotto rookies have gotten plenty of burn recently during the rebuild. Previous contending scenarios and rookies fighting vets for minutes are outdated; it's not what's best for us now. Castle I expect will be all the more so from the quality two way game and hunger he's already shown.

This year's RoY award should be really competitive. I feel like any of the Lottery picks [except injured #12 pick Topic] have a chance (if things break right) for them to be in the top-3 at the end of the year.

One 2nd rounder that could get some attention is Iso Oghodaro for PHX. They need size upfront and if he plays decent he could get some bench run also. I expect the RoY to be Edey, Castle, Rissacher, Sarr, or Sheppard. Holland Ware Williams and Buzelis are dark horses.
Cheers

Edey is going to play on offense the way we want Wemby to play

Salaun is averaging 14/5.5 and shooting 43% from 3 on 8 attempts per game (!!) and playing solid defense and even started for Charlotte last game...

I'm just saying. Maybe we were all wrong about him. Is any rookie shooting better this preseason? The dude is huge at 6'10" and is shooting so fluid. He's way, way more filled out than Giannis was as a rookie. He can't dribble worth a damn and doesn't have Giannis' athleticism though. I didn't think he'd be a rotation player, but with the way he's playing he is probably one of the primary backup forward/centers now

The frenchies so far are solid, Risacher, Salaun, Dadiet. It's Sarr so far that looks underwhelming relative to his draft position.

Three rookies have impressed thus far: Ryan Dunn, Reed Shephard, and Zach Edey. The rest were meh.

He def seems more nba ready than a lot of people said. All analysts were talking about him like some raw project thats gonna take 5 years to develop into something that resembles a nba bench player

I agree. I like these three for varying reasons. I never expected Dunn to rework his shot the way he has. If this continues, he'll be very valuable as a 3D+.

Reed IMO looks like the best OAD (one&done) in the class so far.

Edey looks like the front-runner for ROY and should make plenty of posters/analysts look foolish.

I've been disappointed in Knect because I thought he would be perfect for his role and NBA-ready.

Jared McCain has also been rough. But this one only hurts because I thought he'd be better than he showed so far.

Big fan of Devin Carter, and I think he'll make an impact when he returns.

Allegedly, he is who SA wanted at #8 before CHA picked him which is why they ended up punting their pick. He probably has the highest upside of anyone in the draft

Zach Edey has the highest upside. Unlike all the other drafted players we've actually seen what Zach's high-end outcome looks like. We have a proof of concept; he's shown he can handle the burden/offensive load of a superstar primary option at a high level of competition. You cannot say that for any of the other draftees.

It doesn't mean his upside is the most likely; it's just that his ceiling is the greatest. Which it is. We're talking about a 7'5" in shoes, 7'11" wingspan, 300+ pound center with above-average mobility and athleticism for the center position, and a soft touch to go along with a legitimate post-up game. And the ability to hit free throws.

He has an actual pathway to become a primary offensive option. However likely or unlikely that is...

Sadly i think Quinn will make a mistake and let Hunter keep the Starting job at the 3 for the Hawks. Putting Risa on the bench that will very likely kill any chance he has or had at a roy contention. I don't know how Hunter keeps his starting spot every year it's sorta mind boggling lol. Hunter off the Bench with Bogi was absolutely deadly last year when he was coming back from injury. He went from a guy i wanted off the team to a guy i thought was dominating lesser talent and had found a perfect 6th man role for him.

You still disappointed in Knecht after this 35 point peformance while shooting 8/13 from three? He's nba ready definitely. Probably should start after like 10 games into the season

How would you rank Reed, Dalton, Zacc, Clingan, Sarr in terms of who will start producing asap??
