Good swing and miss, mate.

Facts are simple. 4 years guarantee contract @ 64 million is better than 2 years @ 58 million. Being out for 2 months right off the bat makes it even more obvious the guarantee years are better. OKC ain't picking up his 3rd year unless he's trade fodder. Him saying he was willing to take a discount to stay in LA, then not accept the Knicks maximum offer, was a bull move. I promise you, if he wanted to be in NY, he'd stay in NY.

Yeah mate, cool fact! You are new yorks gm? Mofo Hartenstein and his agent negotiating the best deal for him money wise. When your star player takes a discount to play with his buddy's, you think they would give him the rich contract he was looking for?

This is common knowledge. Knicks offered the most they could, which was 4/72. That's how these contracts work. They couldn't decide to say, "F it, I-Hart, here's 20/25 per." And we know full well Hartenstein ain't no 30 per year guy, and if the option was available, there ain't no way the Knicks are offering that kind of money to him. He left stability for an unknown situation and it wasn't just because of the bag. Just be real about it.

Even if he gives 65% it's financially the better circumstances considering the Knicks now have KAT. Pretty certain that iHart, Randle and Divo wasn't getting the Knicks past Boston but KAT is a piece that may be able to and the other roles are easier to fill than an all-star level stretch big man.

Really I look to Towns to spell Ihart. He gives you most of the size, pick setting, playmaking that Ihart does with far superior shooting. What Precious brings is icing on the cake.

As for Randle, it's fair to hate on him for the time being since he's not a Knick, eventually it'll dissipate, but obviously people who didn't like his game have full bellies after his first game.

No, KAT ain't my guy, yet. He has to earn that.

I only talk about Randle when someone else brings him up. Like I said, rent free. I wish him all the success in the world, but I don't have any reason to bring him up. But I am going to kindly check people who are like, "OMG, same ole Randle -5 in -/+" with as little context as possible.

So the guy on your team isn't your guy because he hasn't earned it, but the guy on the Wolves that never earned it in the playoffs gets your support and defense. That really checks out, keep doing the pro bono work.

These Randlewolves fans have the craziest rationale for why they won't accept a newly acquired 4x All-Star Knick, but but go out on a limb to defend a career failure who got jettisoned from the Knicks.

man at what point do you decide to just shut it down and call it a career if you’re kawhi? the clips we’re stupid for renewing his contract

i never understood why they guaranteed more than 1 year. if he was gonna leave let him. who was throwing a bag at him ? sucks for him but they've dealt with this for years. they should have known better.

They owe picks to the Thunder still and have the new arena opening, they basically just pray he can play at this point. The thunder get to swap this year and unprotected next year, the Clippers are screwed.

He keeps saying he didn't bring up Randle like that means anything, he's out here defending him every time his name is mentioned. The capper is saying KAT is "our" guy like he's not on the Knicks or something. Tragic

Are people still arguing about a player they don't want to talk about anymore? Or even worse, argue about having the conversation about a player they don't want anyone talking about anymore...sheesh

KAT hasn't even began to define his tenure as a Knick yet and closet Timberwolves fans are on the Knicks board hating on him to prop up an ex-Knick. Sad.

Seems like a generalization. Ain't no one bringing up Randle except you guys for the most part. I've moved on. You guys hate Randle so much, stop bringing him up. Like, I'm begging you. The hate is defiles rationality. Hell, I was even acknowledging that despite KAT's trash shooting in his last game, he contributed in other areas. Like I said, Randle is rent free in some people's heads.

Let it go!

No.

Randlewolves fans don't get to dictate anything here. "Stop talking bout my Wandle!" No ....This is the Knicks board and we will freely slander the ops.

Especially since Randle is gone forever...it feels like we beat cancer! Thank you Leon!!

4/64 or 4/72 from the Knicks? I hope you really wouldn't settle for the extra $6M for an extra 2 years of your service.

iHart received a 2 year/$16M contract from the Knicks after being a relatively unknown backup that bounced around the league. Two years later he received a 2 year deal for $58.5M with a 3rd year team option to take it up to $87M. You think that if in two years the Thunder don't pick up the 3rd year option he should be concerned with possibly not being able to make up the $13.5M difference in the 4 year Knicks deal and the 2 year Thunders' deal in what should be the prime of his career with a higher cap?

What do you think the probability is that he ends up losing money for not taking that deal? Near worst case scenario he would receive nearly $8M total for 2 years as a minimum salary player with 8 years of service at that time. On the flip side he could have his 3rd year option picked where he would have already made $15M more in 3 years than he would made on 4 years with the Knicks with the opportunity to get another big deal before even reaching the age of 30.

I can see different reasons for him to leave but I don't see any reason for him to stay financially.

Yep, that's on me: 4/72 mil. No one is going to convince me that 2/58 where your role isn't clearly defined is better than 4/72 because he was pitched really well. You also don't pay that kind of money for a super-reserve if there wasn't an idea to move him for a bigger target because coincidentally there's quite a few exceptional FA's that year.

If he wanted to stay, and he was legit about all this comradery bravo, you take that money and stay.

How did the comradery work out for Donte? You want iHart to take $13-14M less per year to stay loyal to a roster that only has 3 players that have played more than 2 seasons here? McBride and Sims may have only survived this long because they have been on dirt cheap deals and if Mitch could stay healthy for a moment he may have been shipped out this off-season also.

For all we know iHart accepts the Knicks deal and Rose still trades for KAT either involving iHart in the deal or possibly putting him in the same exact position he is in OKC with Chet or he possibly just becomes the next trade chip in the new revolving door of Knicks players. I'm sure iHart would feel like an idiot if he was sitting on another teams bench after being traded with much less money in his pockets.

It feels like just yesterday you were telling us Randle wasn't going anywhere as he was having ribbon cutting ceremonies, kissing babies and handing out turkeys while surrounded by Thibs and Knicks legends. He is now sitting in Minnesota but you want iHart to stay for the comradery. Do you feel like if iHart stayed Randle would still be here or something?

Return to New York Knicks
