Taking your post at face value:
Nursing a hefty lead, Kamala's dumpster fire interviews, and the threat of being assassinated are perhaps some explanations of why.
He's milking the clock.

Hey, believe what you want. All I can tell you is before the last election in 2020 we had MAGA in here boasting about impending victory, but they were too chicken to show their faces when he lost.

While I'm fairly confident in the opposite direction that Harris will win I'm not going to claim I know the exact outcome. The only certainty I have is polls have been completely ineffective for years now and I don't expect that to change.

Since you appear to believe Trump has a bigger lead than the polls indicate and I feel the same about Harris, we'll just have to see in 19 days which one of us is on the money.

The desperation to validate black support of Trump is palpable.

It's a myth. Trump has not picked up any of the black vote that went to Biden.

Speaking of desperation, this is the last thing you'd expect to hear from a man confident they hold a big lead:

Trump is now demanding that Kamala Harris be “forced off the Campaign, and Joe Biden allowed to take back his rightful place.”

I want to ask a question for all of you: have you ever changed someone's mind politically with your arguments?

I don't want to discuss politics and its draining to me that every social media platform I go to is just constantly flooded with this stuff. Every argument devolves into "you're a liar" "no, you're the liar!" I've come to the conclusion that no amount of information will change people's minds on any political hot topic they have made up their mind about.

Who is trying to change anyone's mind? It's a discussion. Not a campaign. When people interact with lies and hypocrisy they get called on it. Then we discuss whatever the latest news is. It's more of an information pipeline not a campaign to rock the vote.

It is rare. The only person active in this thread now that I recall changing much is Stannis whom I ripped pretty hard back in 2020 for being ambivalent and saying they were considering voting for Trump. They are not particularly gung ho for the Democrats due to continued ambivalence about some of their policies, but since then they have acknowledged the fundamental threat to our society and democracy that Trump and his politics represent. Aside from that, I do not recall anyone in these threads changing their stance very much.

A couple of posters here abandoned Trump after voting for him in 2016, but I think they came to their conclusions naturally and without requiring dialogue to arrive at the conclusion they backed the wrong guy.

Other than that, most of are us sharing our concerns or being able to vent with each other about what the majority here consider to be outrageous conduct in tenuous times. It is helpful in difficult times to share these things with each other even if sometimes it is just to say we're astonished at some new outrage these hustlers have said or done.

The fringe element here are MAGA and they tend to traffic in actual lies from memes fed to them from other social media sources.

It would not be legitimate to say there are two sides that are equally valid in pointing fingers at the other side for trafficking in lies.

There is a higher reality where objective reason and facts do matter and our society has divided itself along lines where one side is clearly at ease with pushing unsubstantiated assertions meant to distort the truth and the other side is aligned more closely with science, law abidance and reason.

Therefore, saying it is just a mud slinging contest where both sides are covered in mud and thus indistinguishable would be a false read of the situation. These days, those who vote for the GOP do tend to be willing to lie and cheat at all costs to obtain power while those who vote for the Democrats support democratic processes and the importance of factual truth.

:rofl2:

Nursing a hefty lead? In an unprecedented move.. over 100 Republicans past and present are openly endorsing and voting for her. He is the dumpster fire. No one in their right mind would seriously make that comment.

We'll never know for sure, but my hunch now is that Univision broadcast will be the single most destructive thing Trump has done to himself so far.

The format was perfectly set up to frame precise questions and give Trump the opportunity to nail their answer. He failed miserably every time. I mean it was gob smacking how fcking insenstive and ignorant his answers were.

That audience is a critical demographic for him. Losing even several percent of their support would cook him badly. I think he lost more than that of the latino vote with this debacle, because these clips are going to replayed and shared millions of times before the election. Spanish language media are going to have a field day with this chit show he put on.

TBH, I doubt you watched that whole video Rhodey, because if you did you'd know there is nothing substantive said in it and certainly nothing that validates the sensationalist title.

Another video I don't think you watched through. It has less than a minute of a Kamala character in an SNL skit and it was actually a bit that was the last thing a right wing commentator is going to be able to get mileage on when she answers that what she keeps in her glove compartment is a glock. Stop the presses! It's over for Kamala.

The other 12 minutes in this video is embarrassing and pointless commentary by talking heads. Nothing in there indicates anything the title of the video claims.

If you're just going to grab crap online and post it at least know what you're posting.

Clyde...are you trying to "Obama" this Black man?

But seriously I watched it al the way through. I thought Kamala wasn't presidential material from the very beginning , and she's done nothing to change my mind. I've seen mannequins at Macy's with more original thought  .... but I digress... you are entitled to your own opinion....ultimately we'll get to see how this all plays out.

So if a person denies the holocaust ever happened and Dollar Bills calls them a liar because if that is what they said then they are a liar your response is the speaker is not accountable for spreading lies?
