I called it... Triangle Offense --- Perfect!

11: 45 on onwards : ;t=771s
Jason Kidd talking about working with Phil Jackson.

35:33 to 36:52- Kidd talking about running elements of the triangle and how he thinks it would be good for Dallas:

I said this several times in threads last year. The fact that Kidd went and worked with Phil Jackson in the off-season just means my instincts are correct. Some of you may remember how I called for PJ Washington to bring the ball up/have a bigger offensive role, more ball movement, man moving...multiple guys bringing the ball up and being able to make decisions on the court.

This is the exactly philosophy that Dallas should embrace. It will bring down Luka's assist numbers but everyone else on the court becomes more offensive dangerous and thus the team should be way better on the offensive end---collectively. It will also take a lot of point of pressure defense off of Luka (where he really gets beat up) and allow him to be a finisher.

Quick hitters:
When Lively took that 3 earlier in preseason - I saw flashes of the triangle...even the way Grimes is playing your seeing flashes of it.

Luka has a relationship with the Jordan Brand and could reach out to Mike if he wants to be better in the triangle. I wonder how often he talks t MIke?

Last thing, who here will admit I called this? (not bragging, just saying..)

I think it's a good idea for RS, also Luka screening and playing like a 4 on offense instead of PG, I doubt it'll yield better efficiency for the PO, but it can reduce the load significantly on Luka.
I don't wasn't PJ bringing up the ball in half court offense, he's not built for it.

I remember him talking about this ALL DAMN SEASON LONG.

And it is still kinda frustrating because he continuously disregrads the fact that last season Mavs had Luka and Kyrie+ often injured Exum that could bring up the ball up. Now they have, Dinwiddie, Naji, Grimes, even maybe Gortman if he'll continue with great play then obviously Hardy with improved handles and bigger role since THJ left....

So all in all, he's acting like he discovered a hot water but in reality Mavs loaded up on position that was weak previous year or even in years.

What's the next revelation he'll come up with? That they are thin on PF spot after PJ? That will be funny :D

Itll be interesting to see how the triangle offense works in this day and age with so much emphasis being on the perimeter.

You really believe they'll run a triangle offense when Mavs literally have the best PnR player in the league? No chance.

Agree.

And please don't put too much pressure on Kidd, i'm ok if at least he will make good rotations.

No I dont. I imagine the triangle (if utilized at all) will be more for when Luka is off the floor.
