What's your level of excitment for this season?

Post#1 » by ILOVEIT » Sat Oct 5, 2024 3:53 am

Created a poll.

I'm down on the season and the reason is having Draymond still on the team. Just tired of the whole act. The more he proclaims he's changed, learned for his mistakes, etc, the more bull comes out when he's challenged in the least bit. Frankly, after his punching Poole, f'ing up last season by getting tossed for CHOKING out another player, and now watching the team constantly undersized and lacking any fire power from the 4 and 5, I just want the guy gone. Until he is, we'll watch him do whatever it takes to insert himself into relevance as he declines - it's going to be ugly.

So....not fired up at all and the stink of Draymond still on the team is much of the reason.

I am super excited for this season. Last season represented an opportunity for Kerr and the veterans on the team to decisively pivot to a new winning formula that incorporated the young talent. Kerr and the rest were mostly unsuccessful in executing that pivot, despite all the youngsters improving throughout the season.

This season, with all the same youth and a reworked foundation of veteran talent, Kerr has an even more promising opportunity to develop a new winning formula. I thought last season was Kerr's biggest test so far in his coaching career, but this season is even bigger. The team is deeper and leaner, having shed the fat of Klay and CP3 and, if our youth can take another step forward, I think our ceiling is much higher than last year.

Can't wait to see how it plays out with the questions that abound.

Personally, I've found that if you dont make up scenarios with the worst outcome, that can help your overall outlook :dontknow:

Not sure how it’s Draymond’s fault we lack size and shooting from the rest of the front court.

This roster would of been decent last year with Green and Wiggins out for big chucks of the season. In a year where we need JK, BP and MM to take big steps, we have a team built to stymie their playing time. Podz will get his minutes and do his thing. Not sure what will happen with Kuminga and Moody has the smallest window to make an impact. Still a die hard fan and hoping for the best.

I think we'll see good basketball. Lots of smart guys in the roster and not as many ways for Kerr to screw up (i.e Klay)

a decade of treadmilling en route though

I'm not convinced we're contenders but I'm more excited about this season than the last two we had Durant. This preseason has 2022 vibes.

Lots of youth to see improvement from in Kuminga, Podz, TJD, and Moody plus a few long shot bench guys like LW3.

Solid, deep roster with good fit vets in Melton, Slo-Mo, Hield, plus Loon and GP2.

Fully expecting Wiggins to bounce back and be locked in again after a tough 2 years. Not an all star perhaps but I think he'll be back to his better self.

I love Klay, but it had run it's course, and CP3 leaving lets us speed things back up.

Expecting Dray and Kerr to be .... better after being humbled last season.

And that Steph Curry dude is still destroying worlds.

Lastly, if things aren't panning out we have the assets to make a trade for a difference making disgruntled star. Or if not we have our draft assets and are out of the tax going forward.

Bring it on

There has been a wet blanket thrown on the excitement for my favorite team in my favorite sport since 2022.

Just counting down the years until the contract is over....3 more years.

I mean. We're not going to content again with Curry on the roster IMO and that isn't exactly exciting but I do hope to see a younger more athletic team that could regain some defensive identity. I hate to say but getting Klay out of here is actually a blessing. I love the man and wish him success in Dallas but it really was time to part ways. Really hope that JK, Moody and Podz all take big steps and become our future core. They all kinda seem like they have it in different ways to me anyway.

I'm not excited based on what I saw in the first pre-season game.

I watched the likes of Jiri Welsch, POB, Donyell, Bad Vlad, Fisher, Foyle, Cummings, Fortson, yes even our own Mike Dunleavy Jr., and multiple other casts of the worst dregs of the league. I'm not expecting a lot from this team, but I'm not afraid.

Outside chance they are pretty good if a lot of things go right, but they usually don't, so I think they'll be fighting just for a playoff spot yet again.

Haha, I meant Vonteego but yeah, don't start trying to list the entire cast of characters from the Dark Ages or it'll take weeks.

But what about the immortal Les Jepsen? Anyway, last season would have been MUCH better if Draymond hadn't gotten himself suspended, Wiggins wasn't AWOL most of the year, and Klay didn't drag down the whole vibe. They likely would have at least made the playoffs without Klay going 0-10 in the most important game of the year. So I'm oddly positive about this year. Strength in Numbers. Lots of guys who can play and know how to shoot. I predict a blockbuster trade at the deadline. Maybe Giannis for a handful of guys and picks. I think this year could be really fun to watch.

I'm in good spirits about this season. The Pacific Division is full of dysfunctional teams. Winning it is there for the taking. That would be nice. A Top 4 Conference finish also isn't hard to imagine. The only mystery then is whether the Thunder are ready to take the next step. Make it to the Finals and you've got to hope something goes very wrong for the Celtics.

Still got my VladRad jersey. Prime Vlad would be a nice end of bench guy for this team.
