My gut feel is Paul George and James Harden seemed aware months ago of the challenges Kawhi Leonard is facing. Harden has committed to getting in top shape, and it shows in his performance. While George left the Clippers.

I'm not worried about Knecht. Another in the line of overhyped Lakers players we'll never think about again after they're traded.

He has the size and tools plus he obviously shoots the cover off it. The defensive stuff before draft can be minimised somewhat from the aforementioned, more space and better players around him

He looks great but not worried about McCain at all.

I have believed since draft day that we would live to regret passing on this kid. He's the real deal.

JJ Redick, who knows a thing or two about shooting:

“Dalton Knecht, to me, I told him this the other day, he is in the 1% of shooters. He’s in the 1%.”

“He has a skill that is just hard to find. He’s going to have a chance to earn a spot in the rotation.”

McCain is still shooting better from 3 in the preseason than him fwiw (38.6% to 36%). Wasn't even close before that last game.

Obviously either way you don't draft a 20 year old over a 23 year old for present production.

McCain might be a nice player while Knecht has difference maker potential.

The reaction of the vets on the Laker bench, plus the comments of Miller and Redick say it all.

Again just seems like you're comparing them like they're the same age. When Knect was McCain's age he was a Juco backup.

Followed basketball too long to care about preseason quotes. Didn't Embiid say McCain was the best player on the team a few weeks ago or something. Like someone said every Lakers young player gets hyped, still waiting on the Taler Horton Tucker all star appearance. If you like the guy fine but that stuff is mostly a waste to sift through imo.

McCain has been receiving nothing but praise all preseason. Embiid said he was the best player at camp.

I don't not like Knecht tbc, he has a path to being a good player, in fact if shows a pulse as a rookie I don't think that surprising since if you're drafting a 23 year old that high and he's not immediately productive that seems like a serious problem.

I'm sure a lot of people saw Thybulle giving the Sixers solid minutes as a rookie and were freaking out about passing on him, before realizing he pretty much was what he was.

There's always exceptions of course Brunson, Desmond Bane and so on and so on maybe Knecht will keep getting better.

I have little doubt that McCain will be a very good player in the league. He has obvious skills, works hard, and wants to be great. But he's still a 6'2" guard, and there is generally a ceiling for what we here on RealGM refer to as 'munchkins'.

I'm not just going on quotes from players, I added them for emphasis. I watched every game the kid played at UT, and how he worked and grew as a player as the season progressed. DK has the ability to take games over, and no fear of the moment - that's something that can't be taught. He has difference maker potential as a mid-1st rounder, age notwithstanding.

Listen, I might be wrong on this, as it's all speculation at this point, but to compare him in any way to Thybulle is completely absurd.

McCain has 1 year of Duke level smarts/education, is a natural shooter, tough minded potential two way combo guard that's 20 years old and bleeds Sixers colors down to his cuticles.

Not throwing that away for 1 great preseason game by some guy in his prime years.

Knicks summer will go down as all time bad.

I'd straight up rather have Donte than Mikal and I don't believe there's all that disparity between Randle and KAT either.

KAT is a much better shooter, while Randle is superior in self-creation and can attack mismatches in a way KAT cannot.

These are probably neutral swaps in isolation.. until you factor in that the Knicks traded 8+ unprotected firsts this summer on top of more importantly losing Isaiah Hartenstein who was their second (third at worst) best player in the playoffs last season and was immense in his ability to do the dirty work to create space for Brunson to work.

Ok, maybe I was right to have Clingan second in my mock over Sheppard. Impressive game tonight.

They’re also less equipped to match-up against Embiid.

In typical Knicks fashion, they prioritize a player’s popularity over their actual talent or fit with the team.

Yeah, Clingan rules. Centers are back.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
