Re: Blazers dumping root
Blazers going to play their games on Channel 2 for the new few years. Don't even need cable to watch the games. Just an antenna.

Re: Blazers dumping root
It's great news for fans of the Blazers. Nearly every game should be watchable now, and quite easily at that.
Of course, as I've said...ol' Blackbeard here will likely still sail the high seas, now that the Blazers really took away any other viable options.

Since my two favorite pirating sites have been neutered, I broke down and spent the $120 for the season…figure that’s like skipping out on two bar tabs, anyway…

Love that all the games will be on KATU. Never had issues watching before, but I know others did so happy to hopefully see viewership increase back to normal.

Are they really on KATU or via stream for $120?
I see they list the games will also be on KUNP which is channel 47 on Direct TV.
Don't know how much I will watch when they are 30 games under .500 for whatever reason,
Direct TV is giving me the NBA league pass for 2024/5 for free

I think it's free with rabbit ears and a tv from 1988...but I don't have cable. I just have a laptop...so I spent the dough.

I believe KUNP will carry the games starting on January 1 on Direct TV.
I think its on Katu 2.2, which is one of the side channels from main Katu. I doubt I can get the games for we live
in Hillsboro. I'm better off paying $99 for the league pass if I wanted the NBA games

Re: Blazers dumping root
The Blazers can’t even do TV right, seriously antennas in 2024? ridiculous
I had to go buy an antenna, hook it up to my TV, stick it to window and try to find ABC, I swear I thought I was back in the 80’s.
This organization cannot do anything right, but hey they gave out 5000 antennas and have schills like Danny Marang saying the fans are the problem, not the organization, seriously what a buffoon.
Oh yes, I am sure that YouTube TV doesn’t have somebody that can make sure that the local broadcast of ABC\charge!!! in the OR\WA markets is on instead if the national broadcast, you know “Technology” and all. It’s not like Sinclair broadcasts charge, oh wait a minute…

Re: Blazers dumping root
It's a weird sort of deal if you're still using cable because that channel isn't on cable. But a lot of people have gone back to watching over the air TV and having a couple streaming services instead of cable. So those people are veterans at the whole digital antenna thing. Like a lot of people I just bought one online and I'm hoping it gets here in time.for me to try to watch the game on Wednesday.

Re: Blazers dumping root
I spent a an hour so on SAT, setting one up. You can buy an antenna locally, Ace Hardware has some and the new TV’s auto tune easily, the issue\time depends on where your tv is\ finding ABC, I kept finding channels including NBC\\CBS but not ABC!!!
I had to switch to another tv in another room and move the damn antenna around several times before I was finally able to find ABC and the crappy resolution of the local charge! network.
All the while must of the streaming services have charge!, yet not the local broadcast, which they should be able to switch to in OR\WA markets, and LO and behold they are apparently going to have done in FUBO, but YTTV? Nope
Whomever is running the tv broadcast side for the Blazers should be fired for sheer incompetence
Seriously I’ve never seen an organization run more incompetently, this is the kind of crap you have done before you announce it

Yeah, maybe so...but after years of sailing the high pirate seas since games stopped being on channel 8...it was pretty convenient to plunk down the $120 and watch immediately. I don't own a TV or have cable, so it's about the easiest solution I could find.

Honestly - this feels much more like a you problem, much more than it is a Blazer problem.
By most accounts - the vast majority are finding this change very beneficial.

What? Seriously? Yeah, let's announce something that should be great news, but make sure that the message is muddled\confusing so that most people struggle to find out whether or not it can be broadcast on their provider, not the Blazers problem though right? You would think that they MIGHT want to address all that right out of the gate? Clear & concise? You know, how professionals do such things?
No instead, let's expect the fans to figure all that out (even though your provider has charge!, no local broadcast, nope need an antenna for that!), expect fans to go buy the antenna & install it & find the broadcast, all because they are too lazy, cheap or incompetent to reach out to streaming providers or negotiate to have the games on the local feeds for their own PARTNER (Sinclair) which they clearly should be able to do and should have done BEFORE they announced it.
Who is trying to sell who here again? Who is trying to drive fan engagement, that has fallen off a cliff? I don't know if you have season tickets or not, but I can tell you they are BEGGING people to keep their tickets right now. Do you think they are offering this TV option out of the goodness of their heart? Of course not, they are bleeding fan support, so what do you do? You offer FREE ways to watch to drive engagement, except they are so incompetent they cannot even do that right.
Seriously, the fans' fault, wow. Are you Bert Kolde in disguise?

Re: Blazers dumping root
Anybody else in Eugene. We have a free antenna that we got back when the Blazers had that weird Evoca TV box. I hooked it up to the back of our TV and was able to watch the last two Ducks football games (Ohio State and Purdue) for free over the air. I'm liking that.
I'm really unclear which over the air Eugene station(s) will be carrying the Blazers games. I found an article that listed KVAL (13.2), KCBY (11.2) and KPIC (4.2). Not sure if that means all 3 channels will carry all the Blazers games and I'm not sure I can pull in any/all with our cheapy free antenna. Guess I'll find out on Wednesday. I may have to spend $20 or $30 on a better antenna.
Still, love the idea that the Blazers games are once again free on the local affiliates.

Yep, that's the same article I saw. For Eugene:
Eugene
OTA Antenna:
Eugene - KVAL: Channel 13.2
Roseburg - KPIC: Channel 4.2
Coos Bay - KCBY: Channel 11.2
Cable:
Comcast, TBD.TV Network: Channel 313, 1186
Spectrum, TBD.TV Network: Channel 187

Re: Blazers dumping root
interesting the Direct TV subscribers are being told they can get Blazer vision when the customer
adds the league pass for $99.99
I wonder if Blazer vision will then be included in the league pass for that's a better deal than paying
$120 separately for Blazer Vision. For whatever reason, Direct TV is rewarding me for being a loyal
customer and giving me the league pass, so I presume I will get Blazer vision

I am not freaking out, I will be fine. I am pointing out another example of what a piss poorly run organization the Blazers are right now, from Top to Bottom, one of the worst in the League.
LOL, they are not servicing 90%, maybe by January 1st, if KUNP comes online and is actually watchable (local broadcast) on other streaming services, but until then? No, why do you think they are giving out antennas in the first place?
Step outside this "fan forum bubble" and ask around, most people have no idea whether or not they can get Blazer games, so yeah, they did not do a good job of communicating it, but whatever blame them, after all that is how "Good Businesses " win fans\customers, lol.

Apparently, viewing on DirecTV depends if you are satellite (yes) or Stream (no)
Also, League pass is blocked out in the local market, no?

I'm a satellite consumer and apparently have Start TV where the Blazers games are on channel 84.
Blazers games are on start TV
Lots of confusion where to find the games for I had to do research to find the right channel.
Return to Portland Trail Blazers
